Join me on a day trip to climb to the top of Stetind (1,392m), the national mountain of Norway. Traverse an airy passage and witness breathtaking views as you climb the rugged alpine terrain of this spectacular peak!
Stetind is a high-quality granite monolith. Located in Tysfjord, about an hour drive from the city of Narvik, it is known for its distinct obelisk shape.
The trip starts from the parking lot, just under the mountain itself. From here, we will hike for about 4 hours to the “Halls” pre-summit. Here, I will brief you on safety measures. We will put on our harnesses and helmets to embark on the journey towards the top!
The climb is mostly steep and airy. We will go along the ridge before climbing the last stretch to the flat summit. The descent follows the same route, with a short abseil.
It will be a long and adventurous day. Depending on the weather conditions and the fitness of the group, it can take up to 12 hours from start to finish. First, we will hike from the base to an altitude of 1200m, followed by a climb to the top at 1392m.
Once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with stunning views! To return, we will rappel the same way to reach the pre-summit and then descend to the base.
The trip does not require you to have previous mountaineering experience, but it is good if you have been on nature hikes before. The last bit to the top is very airy and those scared of heights might want to sit this one out!
Get in touch with me now to schedule your climb to the top of this impressive peak in Norway.

Mountain Guide
I am an IFMGA mountain guide, originally from southern Finland. However, I have spent most of my time since 2010 in Northern Norway.
Completely in love with the scenery, nature, culture and the atmosphere, I'm spending as much time as possible exploring the mountains; be it on skis, climbing (summer/winter/alpine/ice&rock), mountain biking, kayaking or just hiking. Without being an expert in any particular one of these fields, my strength lies in finding the right adventure for the day, and spicing it up with local knowledge and the understanding of nature!
Needless to say, my main focus is to provide safe trips regardless of conditions and appropriate for participants' previous experience.
As it is in Scandinavian guiding tradition in general, I always try to teach my guests something!
I'm traveling quite a bit, a lot in Northern Norway and a bit in the mountains further away. My home base is in Lyngen, especially in the winter, but my home mountains extend from here to all the way to the Stetind area south of Narvik, including Lofoten, Senja and Kvaløya.
I'm guiding fluently in five languages: English, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian and German, et mon France est un peu primitives.

Frederi was an amazing guy. My daughter and I were traveling to Norway on a father-daughter trip. At 49, ice waterfall climbing was a bucket list item that I had always wanted to do. It was an incredible experience. Frederic made us feel comfortable and safe. The weather conditions were perfect and we had a truly unforgettable experience. Would highly recommend.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
