Located between the regions of Quindio, Risaralda and Caldas, in the department of Tolima, the Nevado del Tolima is the second highest peak in the Los Nevados National Park, just behind the Nevado del Ruiz.
The ascent to the top of the peak is not easy. In fact, it is considered one of the more difficult climbs in the entire country. The route to the top is steep and the glacier makes things even tougher. However, the rewards you will get to enjoy of conquering the climb, and enjoying the amazing views from the summit, make the challenge worth it. With that said, it is important that participants on this trip are in good physical condition and have prior mountaineering experience.
Our trip will begin in the town of Salento. From there we will start hiking through rich, vibrant vegetation to the mountain. After setting up camp, we will continue to progressively ascend the peak, reaching the summit on the 3rd day. After that, we will make our way down the peak and return to Salento.

I also offer a rock climbing trip in Suesca that you can enjoy here.

Mountain Guide
My name is Luis and I have been a mountaineer and climber since 1986. In 1995, I became a rock and ice climbing instructor and mountain guide.
I founded the climbing school Vรกmonos paโl Monte, which offers different training courses in rock climbing and alpine techniques.
As for my experience, I have climbed several mountains and rock walls around the globe, such as in the Cordillera Blanca and the Huayhuash range in Peru, the Denali West Rib in Alaska, the Gasherbrum in Pakistan, and many others in Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, China, Nepal, Russia and North America.
I also participated in the Seven Summits project, which reaches the tallest mountains in every continent and developed the Iconos project, which aims at the most iconic and stunning mountains in the world.
In 2007, I reached the summit of Mount Everest without the help of supplemental oxygen. This was one of the most incredible and special experiences of my life. As a result of this accomplishment, I was chosen to represent Colombia in the Beijing Olympic Games of 2008.
Take a look at my trips below and come live a fantastic experience in the mountains with me!
