The iconic East Face (aka the Diamond) of Long's Peak is a top-class climbing destination that attracts avid rock climbers from around the world!
Rising to 14,259 feet in elevation, Long's Peak is the northernmost fourteener. Ascending the massive alpine wall via the Casual Route is a great way to experience the immaculate beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park while making the ascent of a lifetime.
The adventure begins after we meet up in Boulder on day one. From here, we will head to Eldorado State Park and/or Lumpy Ridge, where we will make a few scenic warm up ascent. The idea will be to do a 5.10a face climb and 5.9+ crack climb in order to prepare for the Diamond.
On the second day, we will head out nice and early and begin our approach to the foot of Mt Meeker. Once we've arrived, we will cache our gear and head out to climb the Flying Buttress, Kor’s Door, or Directissima.
The third day is easily the highlight of the trip. Getting a pre-dawn start, we will climb up the North Chimney in the dark before stopping for breakfast and a gorgeous sunrise on Broadway Ledge.
From here, we will follow the Casual Route all the way up to the summit. The route is a beautiful 5.10a and involves various different pitches ranging from a 5.7 traverse along the edges and cracks to one of the best 5.8 corners I can think of.
While challenging, the climb is also incredibly rewarding. The views from the top out over Rocky Mountain National Park and the rest of Colorado are unforgettable. After spending some time at the summit, we will descend via the North Face and return to camp.
So what are you waiting for? Book now for this challenging but rewarding 4-day ascent of Long's Peak and warm up climbs in the stunning Colorado Rocky Mountains.
