Located in the southern Argentinian province of Santa Cruz, Los Glaciares National Park is a spectacular glacial landscape of jaw dropping impact.
One of the most remote places on earth, Los Glaciares is the largest park in Argentina and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This world of ice and rock spans 7,269 km2 and hosts sub polar forest, Patagonian steppe, glaciers, mountains and more; meaning you’re heading to the heart of nature.
Cerro Solo and Gorra Blanca are the iconic mountaineering expeditions offered by the Fitz Roy Range. They are not overly technical whilst involving scrambling, traversing glacial crevasses and elevated snow and ice slopes.
We will meet at Calafate airport and then head to the charming town of El Chalten, on route we will have a chance to see the local wildlife including guanacos (lama family), choiques (like a small Ostrich) and condors.
From El Chalten we will already have views of the impressive Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre ranges. We will have dinner in town and prepare for the next day.
We will tackle Cerro Solo first via the Fitz Roy River and the views from this summit over the Cerro Torre range are spectacular.
Next up will be Cerro Gorra Blanca that is situated within the Continental Ice Cap, on the border with Chile, this climb is less demanding but no less rewarding with its stunning views over the ice cap landscape.
My colleagues and I at AMG are trained to the highest standards internationally and we know this landscape inside out, we personalise our trips so as to shape them to your requirements.
If you feel a yearning for adventure then sign up now, I can’t wait to share this epic life experience with you in such an amazing location!

We will meet at the airport and then drive to El Chalten.
On route you will observe the Patagonian Steppe and its wildlife.
In El Chalten we will have dinner and prepare for the next day.
On our route to basecap we will cross the Fitz Roy river by zip line!
We will set up our tents by the creek and rest up for tomorrow.
3-5 hours
On our first summit we will head onto the glacier and then rope up and ascend up to the bottleneck.
Once we make it to the summit the views are unbelievable, we will see: Cerro Torre, Cordon Adela, the south face of Fitz Roy, and the Continental Ice Cap.

A celebration dinner and all the hotel comforts will be waiting to reward you.
4 hours.
Rest day.
Hotel night.
Today we will drive to Electrico’s bridge where we begin our hike to our first camp at “La Playita” (5 hours).

Incredible views await us of the Continental Ice-cap.
We’ll camp at the ice field.
8 -9 hrs.
Second summit day, with our light backpacks.
We will pass through seracs and crevasses on route towards the west ridge.
I might fix the last pitch to the summit.
If weather is good, you won’t believe the view.
Next we will head back to hut/camp to celebrate.
1200 altitude gain, 8 to 12 hours
After breakfast we will begin our descent towards the Eléctrico bridge and back to town.
Once again a celebration dinner and all your comforts await you.

This day is available to us if there are weather conditions that prohibit a summit on a previous day.

Mountain Guide
I´m based in Bariloche, Patagonia, where I guide full time, mostly technical custom trips with small groups.
I started guiding in 1998, and my job took me all around the globe. In Montana, USA, where I lived for many years I worked extensively in the Rockies, guiding in the Tetons, Wind Rivers, and the Beartooths. Back to Argentina, I spend most of my time ski guiding volcanoes, rock climbing at Frey and mountaineering in Chalten and Tronador.
The rest of time I work as a Technical director at the AAGM, forming new guides, and trying to be an exciting dad for my two kids, taking advantage of the great backyard we have at home!
