Description
Join me on this classic hike between the resort towns of Chamonix in France and Zermatt in Switzerland. This 6-day itinerary is among the most famous in the world and an absolute must for every true hiker!
During this 6 day hut-to-hut route, we’ll enjoy unforgettable views of some of the most famous peaks in the Alps: Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Grand Combin and Monte Rosa, among many others. While the first day of the hike will be spent mostly in France, the rest of the trek takes place in Switzerland (please check out the more detailed itinerary below).
We’ll spend 5 nights in mountain huts — most of them located at more than 3000 meters! They all have a great atmosphere and offer great food, so you’ll probably spend your evenings gathered around the table sharing a bottle of red wine with hikers from all over the world.
Although no technical skills are necessary, please be aware that this hike is quite demanding. We’ll walk from 7 to 9 hours per day (25km) while carrying a 10k backpack so make sure you’re fit enough to be able to enjoy the trek!

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Chamonix
Travel day to Chamonix. Accommodation at Hotel Chaumiere, right below Mont Blanc.
Day 2: First hiking day - From France to Switzerland
From France to Switzerland and Cabane Trient (3170m)
Day 3: Hike to Cabane Chanriot
The cabin is located at 2461m.
Day 4: Hike to Cabane Vignette
The cabin is located at 3157m
Day 5: Hike to Cabane Bertol
Via the Arolla village, we reach Cabane Bertol (3311m)
Day 6: To Zermatt
We hike over Tete Blanche to reach Zermatt.
