Description

Between the Var River and its branch, the Cians, the most spectacular landscape makes its appearance. Inside the Mercantour National Park, the Cians Valley offers a wide and unusual variety of natural phenomena.

We will start our snowshoeing tour in the Col de la Couillole (1,678 meters), between the Roubion and Beuil communities, in the Maritime Alps region.

During the tour, you will also be able to admire the incredible Mounier Mount. Full of limestones, the Mounier is one of the most famous peaks in the Maritime Alps with 2,817 meters above sea level.

Furthermore, you will enjoy the beauty of the Gorges du Cians. Due to the erosion of the Cians River, these wonderful gorges combine the red color from the rocks with the sparkling blue from the waters. In winter, the mixture of red, cyan and white transforms this valley into an unique natural spectacle.

If you want to take this snowshoeing tour, remember that a medium level of fitness and experience is mandatory. Take into account that the tour lasts 5 hours and that we will be walking through 500 meters of altitude change.

I booked a tour with Fabrice on late May, definitely the highlight of my holiday, we went on a hike around Casterino It was a relaxed hike with great sights of mountain forests and lakes, I got to see some of the local fauna and flora of the park, ibex, marmots, chamois, although not as much as they would be in the area, possibly because of the wolfs (we saw some footprints). Overall it is a great way to see the surroundings. I would definitely recommend Fabrice as a guide for your next hike!
