Description

Number six on the list of highest mountains in the world, Cho Oyu (8,201m) is an amazing peak. A truly breathtaking mountain, climbing to its summit only adds to its mystique, and on this 44 day expedition that is exactly what you will get to do.

Of all the 8000 meter plus peaks in the Himalayas, Cho Oyu has the highest success rate. It is also considered the easiest of those mountains to climb. However, the term easy should be taken with a grain of salt when it comes to scaling mountains of that magnitude. But with the help of our professional and experienced guides, we are confident you will not only have a successful climb, but also a fun, safe and memorable one.

Beginning in Kathmandu, we will drive to several locations on our way to Cho Oyu. During those drives, and in the villages we will stop and sleep in, including Nyalam and Tingri, you will get to enjoy glorious views of the Himalayas. Just a few examples of the peaks you will get to gaze upon include Shisha pangma (8,013m) and Mount Everest (8,848m).

With plenty of rest days for the purpose of acclimatization during this trip, you will not have to worry about altitude sickness. And with a 21 day climbing period, you will have plenty of time to reach the mountain’s amazing summit by way of its northwest face. And on the final days of the adventure, we will return to Kathmandu, which you can explore and enjoy until your departure home.

Easily one of the most impressive peaks in the world, climbing Cho Oyu is a mesmerizing experience. To participate, all you have to do is send us a request.

Our guide Dr Flemming was excellent. He went above and beyond what we expected. We felt very safe and well trained to practice our climbing. Location was perfect and even though rain had been forecasted, they worked with us to make sure we could climb safely.

I had an enlightening day with Roger, the experience has increased my desire to learn more about rock climbing and commit time to mountaineering and absolute pleasure worth every minute of my time and money.
