Freeride skiing definitely lives up to its name because there is certainly something freeing about skiing beyond the boundaries of a resort. There is also something exhilarating about being able to ski down mountains or glaciers, or skiing through wide open spaces or through forests. The variety you get to experience is what makes it special. And in Chamonix, variety is definitely one of the famous ski area’s greatest assets.
Another interesting part of skiing around Chamonix, and the Mont Blanc massif, is the international aspect of it. Because the resort area is located near the borders of France, Italy and Switzerland, you will have the chance to not only ski in different areas, but in entirely different countries as well!
Also, while still keeping in line with the variety, the slopes around Chamonix are as plentiful as the exciting locations from which you can enjoy them. The altitude range for the descents is from 1000 metres to 3800 metres. Thus making the area accessible to people of all freeride skiing levels.
Here are just a few of the great places I can take you on this exciting freeride skiing trip:
Vallorcine
Courmayeur
St. Gervais
Verbier
Megeve
Envers du Plan
Brevent (which is my personal favourite)
So if you want to have some fun in the Alps, skiing around Chamonix, while admiring amazing peaks from the Aiguille du Midi (3,842m), which you can ski down by the way, to the incredible Mont Blanc peak (4,808m), send me a request. I would be happy to guide you!
I can also guide you on a splitboarding tour near Chamonix as well, on this great trip.

Mountain Guide
I have been a mountain guide since 1996, climbing instructor, mountain bike instructor and snowboard instructor 1° SSBS.
I live in Chamonix and I spend most of my time there in the summer and winter. The rest of the time, I am traveling …
In summer, I spend my time on granite walls that I particularly like. In winter, I do a lot of off-piste skiing, ski touring, and snowboarding/splitboarding… off-piste of course! I try to improve in splitboard and freeride snowboarding in the Mont Blanc massif.
I have had the chance to take some beautiful trips such as to Nepal, United States, Algeria, Morocco, Spitsbergen, Indonesia, Santo Domingo, Majorca, India, Thailand, Tajikistan, Iran, Greenland, Albania and Kosovo. I try to travel to a different place every year.
Please contact me if you are near Chamonix and want to see what happens up there. It will be a pleasure for me to be your guide in this adventure!

Romain was fantastic! He made the descent in the Vallée Blanche a truly exceptional experience. I love his passion for skiing and his knowledge of the glacier, a true delight. He made feel right at ease, it didn't hurt that I could speak French for some good conversation. I highly recommend him
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
