As a symbol of the Helvetic Confederation, the Cervin (4447 m) is disputing the title of “the most beautiful mountain of the world”, with the Alpamayo (Andes Range) and the Ama Dablam (in the Himalaya).
The ascent of Mount Cervin (also known as “Matterhorn”) consists of a demanding 1200-meter-long trail, starting from the Hörnli Hut. To get to its summit without any risk, it will be necessary an excellent physical condition.
This 5-day mountaineering trip I am proposing is perfect for those who have already made several ascents. In addition, a previous rock climbing experience is a plus because you’ll also need some basic techniques of crampons using.
This trip will not only consist of ascending to the summit of Mount Cervin. You will have the opportunity to learn the basic and most important notions about mountaineering. This way, once this 5-day experience ends, you will be ready for new challenges in any other summits of the world.
During this course, you will learn the following content:
Evolve into a tight rope;
Belay in all safety;
Belay a second and a leading rope;
Place efficient protections;
Lead climb.
If you want to know how the itinerary of this trip will run, you can find a sample day-by-day program at the end of this description. Next departures will be on request, each Monday of the weeks from early July to mid August. Hurry up and book your place!
For any other doubt, we can discuss and plan the trip together once you contact me! I will be here waiting your message!
We’ll meet at 9 AM in Saas Grund. Possibility of making a climbing practice up to the Almageller Hut. The positive elevation gain of the first day will be 1250 meters. Dinner and overnight stay in the hut.
A great day of practices and review of rock climbing techniques in Dri Horlini. Then, we will go down back to the Almageller hut.
With the ascent of the Weissmies (4023 m) by its SE edge, we will make a beautiful climb in high mountain, with intermediate-difficulty rocky passages. Then, we will overcome a great ridge of snow to reach the summit. Duration of the expedition: 7 to 8 hours.
Descend to the valley. Then we’ll take a cable car from Zermatt to reach Schwarzee (2583 m). Walk up to the Hornli hut (3260 m). Elevation gain of 700 m. Dinner and overnight stay in the mountain hut.
For the last day, we’ll departure very early in the morning for the ascent of Mount Cervin. The progression is quite easy until the Cabin of Solvay (4000 m). Once at the top, the track is equipped with nails and ropes to facilitate the ascent of the Cervin summit. Once we did it, we’ll return to the Hornli Hut. After that, we go back to Zermatt by foot and cable car. Arrival in Zermatt and end of such an amazing program.
