Argentina is a beautiful country, full of stunning sceneries. And one of the most dazzling places in the country is the region of Patagonia, that lies within the Rio Negro Province. Join me, on this winter trek in across Cerro Negro, a magnificent peak that stands out for its beauty in Patagonia.
We’ll explore Patagonia, in a very unique way, during winter. So we’ll use snowshoes to reach Refugio Italia, a charming and gorgeous hut at the heart of Nahuel Huapi National Park. This mountain refuge rests right next to the Laguna Negra, or Black Lagoon in english. Hence, it is the ideal hub for our winter adventure.
We’ll dedicate our first day to get to Refugio Italia departing from Bariloche. That trek will be of 14 kilometers approximately. And we’ll spend that night in the refuge, enjoying the quietness of nature, exquisite food and sharing all our experiences.
Then, on our second day we’ll depart really early in the morning towards the Cerro Negro peak. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, we might have to use crampons to reach its summit. But, once we stand at its top, we’ll get the most hypnotizing views of everything around us. Upon completion, we’ll head back to the hut for another delicious dinner and a good night sleep.
On day three we’ll head back to Bariloche. So we’ll take the same path we used to reach Refugio Italia, retracing our steps and enjoying one more time the beauty that will surround us.
If you wish to join this winter journey, please send me a message. I promise it will be an amazing experience!
Looking for a shorter adventure? I also guide this Half-day trek in the “Green Lagoon”, Challhuaco Valley.

We had a different guide Mercedes at the last minute as Camilla’s daughter was sick. She was very nice and gave us lots of information. We did an up and back walk to Frey Hut and did not go up the cable car and along the ridge which was the circular planned route. It was raining in the morning which was the reason. The weather cleared as expected. It was a shame that this could not have done the walk the other way round. We are grateful Camilla organised another guide for us so that we were able to hike.
Camila has excellent knowledge of the area and was enjoyable to be with. Lunch was so so.

A tough but thoroughly rewarding hike. The challenges of the trek are matched by the stunning views, unique flora, and wonderful people you meet along the way.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
