Description

Chile is a land of adventure. But winter, brings a special glow to this region. Because the snow covers the Central Andes Base camps, it turns them into a winter wonderland, perfect for our ski tour adventure!

This trip is ideal for intermediate and advanced skiers. So we’ll cover many wild and remote areas. But, some of the places we can visit are:

Cajon del Maipo

Due to its location, this place is ideal for those who want to stay away from ski resorts. The Cajon del Maipo is a deep and dazzling mountain canyon, located near Santiago de Chile. It lies within the Maipo river basin, where its surrounded by hills and massifs. And, it has access to rivers like the Volcan, Yeso and Colorado. Also, you can visit stunning lagoons such as the San Gabriel, San José, Manzano, Manzanito, Coyanco and El Sauce.

Portillo

Portillo is the most prestigious and famous ski resort in South America. And, it is located only 40 kilometers from the base of Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the continent. Right at the heart of the Andes, it used to be a pass between Chile and Argentina. So, its excellent slopes, powder snow make it a perfect setting for our adventure.

Farellones

It is located near the capital of the country, Santiago de Chile, only 36 km away. One of its characteristic is the unique and beautiful architecture of its houses and huts. It’s surrounded by pine forests and scenic views. The ski resort in this area is world class. And the constant snow precipitations always cover this area with fresh and pristine snow ready for you to tackle!

So if you want to explore any of these wonderful places, send me a request. I’ll make sure you have a wonderful time ski touring through the Andes! If you are looking for another adventure, I also guide this Backcountry skiing in Portillo area.

Mountain Guide

My family brought me to the mountains of Portillo in the Andes, when I was barely 15 days old and I've been hocked ever since. Going there every year I´ve met great skiers and mountain people from all over the world and I was inspire by the adventure stories that brought them to these mountains. In my twenty’s I set out in search of that lifestyle, moved to the mountains and have been skiing and mountaineering ever since. Now after years exploring in the Andes and Patagonia, these are some of my favorite trips. Join me for some epic times!

Full certified ski instructor of the Chilean and international association and 15 years of experience, working in Portillo, Mammoth and Jackson Hole ski schools, teaching all ages and levels, together with backcountry essentials and safety. Certified Ski and Mountaineering Guide and instructor of the Chilean Mountain Federation www.dt-feach.cl and technical comity member. Since 2005 I’ve guided multiple expeditions to Mount Aconcagua, Ojos del Salado and many others that include 19000ft mountains, ski ascents and moderate alpine climbs, where I organize and take care of every detail for my own groups and sometimes for friends companies. Since 2004 I’ve guided heli-skiing in SkiPortillo and now in Third Edge Heli from Santiago and Farellones. Started in 1998 ski Touring with friends and then helping senior guides with their groups and been guiding my own clients since 2004, teaching skiing and guiding small groups.

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Cami

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
