The climbing venues of the Sierra de Prades and the Sierra de Montsant in Catalonia offer fantastic rock quality. Join me on this 8-day trip and enjoy the sunny conditions of autumn for a unique rock climbing tour.
Even the water temperatures of the Mediterranean Sea on the nearby Costa Daurada –Golden Coast, in English- invite you to swim during fall. Our apartment overlooking the rocks is centrally located in Cornudella de Montsant and it is an ideal starting point for our tour.
The Prades Mountains are large calcareous mountain massif, with characteristic rounded and large rocky outcrops. These mainly limestone and conglomerate mountains rise steeply from the coast. The Sierra de Montsant comprises excellent climbing on high-quality conglomerate.
We will have a lot of fun climbing on these amazing venues in Catalonia. I will give you the tips and tricks you need to improve your personal climbing performance. We will go over securing techniques, descent and tactics training.
This climbing programme is also suitable for beginners, although you need at least a basic climbing knowledge to join this tour.
From Barcelona, we will drive a rental car to our accommodation in Cornudella, where we will discuss our plan for the following days. We can choose between the ranges of the Sierra de Montsant and Margalef or the structured lime of Siurana -the Queen of sport climbing in the Sierra de Prades-, Falco, Arboli and Mussara.
During these 8 days, we will also have time to enjoy some sightseeing in Siurana and a trip to the nearby Costa Daurada, a beautiful coastal area by the Mediterranean Sea.
Tempted to join me on this climbing tour in Catalonia? Then check the date below and book your trip! We will spend a great time climbing on the Catalonian mountains.
If you are looking for another rock climbing trip on a sunny destination, check out my 8-day rock climbing trip in the Kalymnos island, in Greece.
After we arrive in Barcelona, we drive with a rental car to our accommodation in Cornudella (about 1.5 hours). We will discuss our plans and possible venues for the upcoming days.
The next days we have the choice between the ranges of the Sierra de Montsant and Margalef or the structured lime of Siurana, Falco, Arboli and Mussara.
We will also have time to enjoy some sightseeing in Siurana and a trip to the nearby Costa Daurada.

Mountain Guide
IFMGA/IVBV Certified mountain, ski and canyoning guide, member of DAV and VDBS mountaineering and sport climbing teaching and training team. I’ve been part of the VDBS team for the formation and training of German mountain guides for 20 years.
I started climbing at the age of 17. Since 1987 I am certified mountain guide and a passion has become a profession. I live in Scharnitz / Tyrol and I am leader of the moutaineering school Alpenwelt Karwendel in Mittenwald.
Ice climbing in norway, skitouring in morocco, rock climbing in cuba or high mountains in the himalaya - I like it to explore new areas around the world. I led a DAV training expedition for talented young mountaineers in the Tian Shan mountain range with climbing Khan Tengri and did several expeditions to the karakorum mountains and the himalayas.
As a full-time mountain guide, I feel at home in the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains as well as in the mountains and climbing areas worldwide. I am happy to accompany you as a guide to your desired goal!

Better than I could ever have expected. Bernd was very skilled guide, able to smoothly adjust to my skill level and the conditions on the go. Very fiendly, easy to communicate with. Made my day extremely enjoyable and memorable.

Bernd was an amazing guide! We had a great time doing a 10 pitch climb on the Alpspitze mountain, and some fun single pitch afterward. As I am a somewhat experienced climber, he was a wonderful guide who gave me the freedom and trust to lead pitches and to belay him. Bernd is an excellent and smart climber who was able to push me to do my best and provide an incredible experience, while being patient while I enjoyed climbing on limestone in the alps for the very first time!

Bernd is a great teacher and guide. My husband and I are so glad that we had him as first timers for ice climbing. Aside from being knowledgeable, he is a very kind, warm and genuine person.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
