Join me on this unbelievably fun half-day of canyoning and rappelling down the Baiguate Waterfall, near Jarabacoa, a truly special and naturally beautiful part of the Dominican Republic featuring lush green rainforest, endless fields of fragrant cilantro, majestic mountains and canyons, and the awesome flowing water of the Baiguate River that feeds in to the mighty Yaque del Norte, the second-largest river in the country.
Jarabacoa is town located in the Dominican Republic Province of La Vega, in the centre of the country, and is known for its strawberries, coffee, pimento and aji pepper, as well as its Carnival held every February.
Our day begins when we meet in the morning, where we will dispense all relevant safety gear and information.
It is then time to start canyoning, and right from the get-go you will be swimming through streams, lakes and rivers, jumping off rock formations and rappelling down the glorious Baiguate Waterfall.
The entire activity is a thrill-a-minute joy, and it caters to people of all levels of ability, from absolute beginners to experts.
It is also important take the time to admire and gaze at the sensational scenery around us, as you will be pinching yourself that you are indulging in such a fun activity right in the middle of a Caribbean forest.
The waterfall itself is a postcard-pretty and lovely sight, with its emerald-coloured water adding to its beauty.
After a few hours wet’n’wild fun we then finish up, our adrenaline pumping and our hearts full of love for this epic part of the Dominican Republic.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
