FAQs

Do you provide climbing shoes?

I advise bringing your own climbing shoes, as they will be more comfortable. If you don't own/have them with you, I will provide them for you (you'll have to tell me your shoe size).

How long does the activity take?

The tour lasts 4/5 hours.

What's included in the price?

The price includes the guiding fee, gear, and insurance. For the insurance, you'll need to provide your name, birthdate and ID number.

Where's the meeting point?

The pick-up is at Cascais train station or Sintra Train station( For sport climbing) at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. Depending on the weather, we'll meet in one of the two. Both are very easy to access from Lisbon, with a 20-minute train ride. From there, we will drive to the climbing area, which I will decide on depending on the weather conditions. For bouldering tours the meeting point might vary depending on where we climb.

If after the guided bouldering session with you, we want to go bouldering by ourselves, can we rent crash pads in Cascais or Sintra?

Yes, it's possible! I have crash pads for rent, so you can let me know, and we will arrange it.

Is this program suitable for beginners? Are there boulders with low climbing grades?

Yes, there are plenty of options in terms of climbing grade in Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. We will choose the best routes according to your level, either if it's your first time bouldering, or if you already have experience and want to challenge yourself.

What people are saying about this trip

Timothy

Joao, was a warm, gracious and exceptional guide/host/Portugal ambassador. Joao, guided my wife and I on a morning Bouldering trip through the magical forests of Sintra. Despite less than perfect conditions, Joao, expertly found us dry and fun boulders to try and top!!! An extremely easy person to chat with, he also guided us through some history of the Sintra area, and is an avid arborist and kept our morning full of fun Portuguese flora facts. We would recommend Joao to anyone who asks about rock climbing guides in the greater Lisbon area. Thank you again Joao, and hopefully see you again!

Neil

Was a great experience, Joao was super helpful, super friendly, couldn't recommend more, absolutely fantastic

Jack

João was friendly and charming from the very beginning through to the end. He was a very good and experience guide and he was also a fun guy to hang around with. The climbing experience was nothing short of amazing, climbing on cliffs met with the sea, an amazing view to go with the rewarding feeling of getting that climb you have tried a few times. All the kit and equipment is of high quality, and as a group of 10 climbers, we all came out very happy. Thank you !
