Description

Climbing on sandstone in Czech Republic has its own specific features which you can get to know with me. Let´s climb in The Bohemian Paradise the longest rock ridge in the Czech Republic. I will take you to this beautiful spot. We’ll encounter cracks, chimneys, friction climbing, edges and walls.

In particular, the location is called Suché skaly (Dry rocks). Here it's allowed to climb after raining because the local sandstone is very hard.

This is how the day usually goes. We start in the morning around 9AM (I can pick you up), check the equipment and warm up. Then we start with an easy climb on the first tower (Flag tower) and continue to the south for further towers. We will climb around 6-8 hours, but it depends on your climbing ability and stamina.

During your climbing experience you can enjoy many views of others spots. In fact, we have The Bohemian Paradise on one side and the beautiful Giant Mountains on the other.

You can get to know the traditional way of running protection (only knots), specific climbing, lowering, rope off and getting on top of rock towers. And if we have spare time we can go for crack or face climbing to the south faces.

There are summit books on the tops in which the first ascents to the tower are recorded. The climbers who first get to the top can greet the mountain and write "Hore zdar!" into the book. Maybe we’ll meet the living legends of sandstone climbing in the rocks, the extreme climbers. They have more than 3000 first ascents on sandstone. We may get to share some time in a typical climbers pub.

Some of the highlights that make this trip special include:
– Sandstone climbing in the heart of The Bohemian Paradise
– A unique experience
– Local pubs and beautiful countryside

Mountain Guide

My name is Vojtěch but everybody calls me Watt. I started climbing when I was 16. In 2009 I got certified as a mountain guide.
My favourite activities include climbing, MTB, skiing and trail running.
These are some of my favourite crags: Prachovské skály, Bišík and Zbiroh (sandstone in The Bohemian Paradise) and Moravian Karst (limestone).
One of my best climbing achievements was in Val Qualido (Italy), also the north face of Malý Kežmarský štít, in the High Tatras (Slovakia), and many more!
As a side job, I am the editor in chief of an outdoor web, I write methodology articles for climbing magazines and climbing comics.

What people are saying about this trip

Weston

Watt is the man! Gave me an unforgettable day of climbing, and helped my girlfriend and I navigate the bus system after. Made the whole thing so easy, and took amazing photos. Would hire him again!

Chessie

I had been alpine climbing in Washington State in the US, and made it clear what my skill level and scheduling limitations were. I explained what gear I had and asked what to bring with me. Vojtech worked out a trip based on the weather and explained how it might impact our time. What I appreciated the most about Vojtech, aside from his professionalism and friendliness, is that he was very attentive to my ability and readiness. He chose routes based on what he saw in my skills and my interests. He shared cultural and technical facts. I really enjoyed my time out there and appreciate the skill that went into choosing routes that fit my experience level. Thanks Watt!

Chris

Votjech is top of the pack where guiding is concerned! He understood our level of fitness and still pushed and helped to make the experience special. Very safe and safety conscious! Highly highly recommend him !!
