Explore the hidden Black Rock Forest in the Hudson Valley on a incredible snowshoeing day. Known for its unique ecosystem, this place is seeked for by biologists and nature lovers. Get ready for a wonderful and relaxing day in the Appalachians.
On this trip, we'll cover 6 miles at a relaxing pace, looking for trails of rabbits and deers and enjoying the beautiful landscape. We'll take a break at the frozen Sutherland Pond and head back to the starting point.
This trip is recommended for intermediate hikers, first time snowshoers and advanced hikers looking for a more relaxed adventure.
Make sure to bring a backpack with lunch and snacks, at least two liters of water, chapstick and sunscreen, hat, gloves and an extra pair of wool socks. I also recommend you bring a thermos of hot soup, tea, or coffee. You should wear weather-appropriate and comfortable clothing, waterproof hiking boots, and ski or snowboarding gear, including a warm, waterproof jacket. Also, have ready dry clothes and shoes for the ride home. Trekking or ski poles are recommended and you are welcomed to bring a camera.
If you are looking for a different weekend in New York state, send your request and experience the beauty of Black Rock Forest. I can guarantee you'll be starting off your week with the right foot.
I also offer other hikes in New York. Be sure to check out the ones I offer to Kaaterskill High Peak, Devil’s Path and others for more options.
