Description

Join me on this 7-day hiking tour in the Black Forest National Park and the surrounding area and discover a destination of stunning natural beauty.  The Black Forest is a large forested massif located in southwestern Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

I am a certified Spanish-speaking guide and I will make sure you enjoy an amazing hiking tour in the northern part of the Black Forest. Beautiful lakes, hot springs, forests, cities and towns with a lot of history, such as Baden Baden, Freudenstadt, Ettlingen or Bad Herrenalb, come together to make this trip an unforgettable experience, whether you travel alone or as a group.

During these days, we will also see different species of flora and fauna while hiking. You will as well observe natural habitats of threatened species, such as the capercaillie and the tridactyl beak.

The Black Forest is not only interesting because of its natural environment, but also because of the culture and traditions that are still very much alive in the daily life of the people of the area.

We will be staying at the cozy and comfortable Sonnenhof Hotel, located just 300 meters from the Bad Herrenalb thermal spa.

Don’t hesitate to send me a request if you want to join me on this unique hiking tour. Check the dates below and book your trip! We will explore together this beautiful destination in Germany.

I also guide another hiking tour in the Black Forest, visiting both the center, the north and the south of the massif, together with some interesting towns. Check it out!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrrival Day

Arrival at Stuttgart airport. Reception of travelers and transfer by road to accommodation. Programme presentation.

Day 2: Bad Herrenalb-Viewpoints

Bad Herrenalb is a beautiful town and it is considered a spa resort due to the quality of its waters and the purity of its air. It is crossed by the Alb river, where 5 streams converge in a wide valley, where an ancient Cistercian monastery of the 12th century was located. Around this area stands the historic center of this small city.

The outskirts of the town are full of dense fir and beech forests  that can be reached on foot and different viewpoints with views of the Rhine Valley and the French Vosges, from where we can contemplate beautiful sunsets.

Day 3: Ochsenkopf

Today we will explore one of the least known and most isolated sections of the Black Forest National Park, and one of the best Grouse preserved habitats. It will not be difficult for us to find traces of this species within this park maximum protection zone. We will also be able to appreciate the special characteristics of this habitat. Within these National Park natural spaces, we can see how nature organizes itself without the intervention of the human hand and how species that had disappeared from these places reappear.

Day 4: Karlsruher Ridge - Gernsbach city

There aren’t many places in the Black Forest -and specially in the northern part- where the rock comes out of the Earth and allows us to enjoy more alpine routes. The ridge we are going to hike on today, on the edge of the National Park, is one of these exceptions. From there we will enjoy beautiful views of the Rhine Valley and the Vosges. We will also cross beautiful forests, where we can relax while enjoying the hike. Back to the hotel, we will visit the city of Gernsbach, with its traditional culture of rafters and timber trade.

Day 5: Huzenbachersee Lake - Ferundestadt city

Today we will enjoy a beautiful middle level route in another of the maximum protection areas within the National Park. This route also offers the possibility of observing the characteristics of a small glacial cirque, a unique and special place for its scenic and scientific interest. In the afternoon, we will walk through Freundenstadt, a key commercial city in the Black Forest during the Middle Ages and now the most populated city in the interior of the massif.

Day 6: Centennial Forest - Baden Baden Rocks (Battert Felsen)

We will hike on an interesting route today, through the wonderful centuries-old forests near Baden Baden, on the edge of the National Park, with excellent views over the city from the cliffs of Battert Felsen. This is a natural space with a higher protection degree. Due to its unaltered ecosystems it is a nesting place for scarce species such as the Peregrine falcon. And as a final, we will visit the town of Baden Baden, with time to enjoy some of its thermal water spas, famous since the s.I a.C., when the Romans made this region  especially known for the properties of its waters.

Day 7: End of Programme

Today we will say goodbye, hoping you have had a nice trip.

Hi, nice to meet you!
I am working together with Laura Carmona González, we both were born in Spain and now we are living in the north of the Black Forest in Germany, close to the German Alps and the Vosges in France. Now I am going to tell you something else about myself.
I was born in Spain in a small village between Toledo and Madrid, nearby the Spanish Central Mountain Range. I have been living for some years in Scotland, New Zealand and 8 years in Germany. Spanish is my mother tongue and I talk fluent English and German as well as a bit of French.
I am qualified trekking, MTB and horse riding guide as well as Black Forest Middle-North Natural Park Guide - Schwarzwald Guide. Two years ago I finished my qualification as a Mountain Leader UIMLA.
Nature and mountains are a very important thing for me from long time ago, that is why I decided to take this hobby as my profession. I have worked more than fifteen years as a trekking, MTB and horse riding guide for many companies and travel agencies in different countries in the world.

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Valeriya

You’re simply the best!!! :))) Explore-Share made everything easy and stress-free. Will definitely use again.

Joshua

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Cami

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
