I will take you on a wild backcountry skiing adventure through this isolated and beautiful region of Washington State, where the people are scarce and the raw natural beauty of the area is plentiful, as we traipse and travail through some absolutely stunning peaks, mountains, valleys and lakes, all as part of the famous and challenging “Forbidden Tour” in the North Cascades.
Located in the far North of Washington State, the North Cascades National Park is a veritable paradise for those looking to disconnect and go off the beaten path, due to the difficulty of accessing the region and its relative lack of infrastructure and roads.
There is a massive diversity in the flora and fauna found in the area, and amongst the North Cascades Range sits the most expansive glacial system in mainland USA.
Meeting on day 1 at the Eldorado Creek trailhead, we then ski up to the mighty Boston Basin, an awe-inspiring part of the tour with its vast expanses looking out over tree-lined valleys, and it is here we camp overnight.
The next day we ski along the edge of the Quien Sabe and Boston Glaciers, before indulging in the most iconic part of the tour, the descent down the delightful and exquisite Forbidden Glacier to Moraine Lake, camping overnight on the East Ridge of the Forbidden Peak.
The final day entails winding our way back down the Rousch Creek drainage to the start point at Eldorado Creek, where we can also explore Inspiration Glacier, before saying our goodbyes, hopefully having given you the thrill of a lifetime on this unique tour.
Experience the thrill and mystique of the Forbidden Tour and you will never forget it – book now so you don’t miss out!
