Description

Rise to the challenge of Castle Peak and head to Lake Tahoe for an unforgettable backcountry skiing adventure! This day-long guided program features intermediate-level ski touring on the eclectic landscape of a notorious mountain in the illustrious Sierra Nevada!

Castle Peak is a 2,776-meter summit rising out of the Tahoe National Forest. It is located to the northwest of Lake Tahoe, offering some incredible vistas and steep lines up and down its slopes. It is known for its easy access and longer-than-average approach (about two miles), which makes it a mouthwatering objective for proficient skiers.

You program is intended to give you unforgettable runs in the exciting backcountry around this glorious mountain, taking advantage of its wilderness and access. You will ski tour through one of the area’s most sought after destinations for a full day. We can start at the SnoPark near Boreal and head out on a classic tour to the summit, selecting the best ski routes for our needs and abilities.

We will begin early in the morning, aiming to start the program by 8:00am and finishing around 4:00pm. This gives you eight hours of extraordinary skiing, with time to take in the scenery and explore pockets of powder. The options are endless, so fill me in on how you want to reach Castle Peak and we can maneuver our way up and down the mountain accordingly.

The terrain at Castle Peak is outstanding. Below the rock buttress, there is a wealth of south-facing snow for a classic run, while a narrow chute of powder on a rocky outcropping for intrepid skiers when the snow is deep enough. Once at the summit, the grizzled veterans should drop down the North Face as it offers the best backcountry on the mountain.

High couloirs drop sharply into the valley on many runs, and there are even more modest slopes with manageable angles for intermediate skiers. For a special treat, drop down into the west from the summit and you will find Grubb Hut, an overnight backcountry cabin in Round Valley.

You should be in good shape for this program and have a high skiing ability. The itinerary can be challenging and requires both the physical and mental aptitude to passionately take on the difficult backcountry terrain of Lake Tahoe, Castle Peak, and the surrounding wilderness.

Book this fantastic Lake Tahoe program on Castle Peak NOW and enjoy an intermediate-level guided backcountry skiing day on a historic mountain tour in the heart of the Sierra Nevada!

Phillip

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Lucie

Amanda

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
