I invite you to join me on a unique 6-day heliskiing trip in Arkhyz, a small hidden paradise in the Caucasus Mountains, in Southern Russia. This incredible tour combines skiing on fantastic slopes, amazing powder and accommodation in a historic house of the former URSS government.

We will enjoy great skiing in alpine terrain during the day, under the giant peaks of the Caucasus, and return every day to our comfortable accommodation, the Datcha Gorbachev, an imposing and opulent stone house with spacious rooms hidden at the heart of ancient pines. This was actually a former state residence, used by the first president of the USRR Mikhail Gorbachev.

Arkhyz is a village in the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, in Greater Caucasus, about 70 km from the Black Sea coast. The quality of the snow is truly remarkable at this altitude. We are able to enjoy abundant snow here thanks to the proximity of the Caspian and Black Sea.

We take a group of 6 people on this trip, with 2 guides, in order to ensure the best experience for you. It will be 5 incredible days of skiing with 11 hours of helicopter flight time.

We will enjoy maximum comfort at the Dacha, surrounded by history. The helicopter will be in the garden of the house, allowing an easy departure and landing every day. An Ecureuil B3, the star of mountain helicopters, will give us access to the most steep and remote places in the mountains.

The price includes: 5 days of skiing with private helicopter flights departing from the hotel (11 hours flight.); airporthotel roundtrip transfers; access to all services of the hotel; breakfast, picnic with local specialties during the day in the mountains and evening meal; snacks are also provided (energy bars) and bottles of water are available during the day at the helicopter; safety equipment (ABS Airbag Backpack, Avalanche Victim Detector, Excavator, Probe). // The price does not include drinks and midday meals on days when we don't fly.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Mineralnye Vody Airport

SUNDAY. Arrival at Mineralnye Vody Airport. We’ll be waiting for you and transfer on a private bus to the hotel (3 hours). Welcome at the hotel with a drink and lunch.

Day 2 to 6: Heliskiing

MONDAY TO FRIDAY. In the first morning we’ll have a safety procedure briefing. On Friday afternoon, transfer to a hotel in Mineralnye Vody. Last dinner with a member of the team.

Day 7: Transfer to Mineralnye Vody Airport

We take groups of 6 people (2 guides) . HELICOPTER The helicopters are Eurocopter AS350B3 Ecureuil and AérospatialeSA 315B Lama, single-turbine. They can carry 4 people plus a guide and they are of recent construction and offer all the necessary security guarantees. They are revised and maintained strictly according to international maintenance procedures.

FLIGHT TIME In contrast to other Heli-ski companies who base their flight time on the vertical meters skied, we prefer to base our calculations on actual flight time. Not only is this method better for you, closer to the reality of the costs, but it also allows us freedom to adapt our program depending on conditions, giving us the possibility to explore the best sites. So a good day will give you 7000 to 10000 meters of vertical descent for around 2h30 of flight time! The flight time allocated for each trip is based on the average number of hours used throughout each trip during the season. If the weather conditions do not allow you to use all these hours, we will reimburse them to you.

I have been a mountain guide for almost 20 years. But I'm not only a guide...
The mountain is the thread of my life. I am a member of the Chamonix Guides Company, ski instructor and teacher for many years at ENSA (National School of Ski and Alpinism), I am very experienced in the mountains. My experience is multifaceted since I partake in varied projects, as a trainer and first aider at the Chamoniarde de Secours (an association that contributes to the development of mountain safety and to promote alpine environment knowledge), technical supervisor of the freeride competitions organization, or safety advisor and rider in several freeride videos.
My favorite?... The Kamchatka, heliski's promised land. In 2005 I created a heliski agency in Russia, to share my passion organizing exceptional ski journeys.
