Aiguille Verte: it's a dream for mountaineers, a major mountain. No way of access to its summit is easy, and it is said "At the Verte one becomes a true mountaineer". This mountain is part of the famous Mont Blanc massif, at the French Alps.
The ascent of the Whymper couloir is as superb as it is long. Then, when we reach the edge of the ridge at the pass, it's magnificent! The following stage is the summit ridge and the arrival to the summit. In fact, it's a magnificent belvedere over the Mont Blanc massif and the Grandes Jorasses. An unforgettable moment!
During the trip, we will cover how to:
– Evolve on ice and mixed terrain, in chutes up to 90°;
– Belay in all safety;
– Belay a second and a leading rope;
– Place efficient protections;
– Lead climbing in 75080° pitches.
This program is for people having extensive mountaineering experience of different levels, both in snow and rock. You need to be in very good physical shape. The snow slopes are maximum 55°, each day lasts 7 to 12 hs and the maximum altitude change is 1400 m.
Did you find this trip tempting? Then please contact me to embark in this adventure together! I love taking my clients climbing mythical summits, and the Dent Blanche, in the Pennine Alps, is another great option.
Meeting at Chamonix in the morning and checking equipment. Car transfer to Montroc (at the bottom of the Chamonix valley). Ascent by cable car to Charmillon. Then we walk up a nice path to the Albert 1 refuge. We leave our belongings and go practice crampon techniques and rope handling at the Tour glacier.
Before sunrise, we climb a section of the Tour glacier to reach the foot of the route. We ascend the Table couloir (400 m). Then we descend by the normal route and cross the Trient glacier to reach the refuge.
We leave before sunrise to ascend the Copt couloir. Then we descend to the Tour glacier, and we reach the Charamillon pass. We descend to the valley by cable car, and spend the night in Chamonix.
In the morning we rest and get the equipment ready. We take the rack railway train to Montenvers. We descend by the ladders, then ascend to the Couvercle refuge.
This last day we leave before sunrise to ascend the Aiguille Verte by the Whymper couloir. Afterwards, we descend in the late afternoon to Chamonix.
