Learn the basics of mountaineering and have the chance to summit l'Aiguille du Tour in the Mont Blanc range together with Julia, an IFMGA-certified guide.
Alps
2 Days
Jun - Sep
During this course, you will also put your learnings into practice by climbing a very nice peak of the Mont Blanc Range.
I particularly like climbing Aiguille du Tour because of the beauty of the landscapes surrounding us. Furthermore, the sunrise from le Glacier du Tour is just stunning!
This course takes place very close to Chamonix. These 2 days walking on glacier can be easily combined with some holidays you would spend in Haute Savoie.
L’Aiguille du Tour is located between the Trient plateau in Switzerland and the Tour Glacier, in France. It offers a beautiful view on some of the most famous mountains of the massif. Among them, there are the Mont Blanc, the Aiguille Verte and the Aiguille du Chardonnet.
In addition, during these 2 days I will teach you how to walk roped, how to hike on a glacier with crampons and how to use an ice axe. These are all the basic techniques you will need in order to spend time in high altitude. Once the course finishes you will be ready for more challenging mountaineering routes in the Alps or anywhere else.
I usually go there for a 2-day tour sleeping one night at the Albert 1er mountain hut. At the end of the description you'll find more details about the full itinerary. However, we can adapt the program according to your wishes, the time you have and your climbing level.
Finally, let me recommend you to read this very nice article which narrates the adventure of 4 fathers and their sons who I guided to Aiguille du Tour in August 2016.
Please get in touch with me and let me know what you are interested in. I’ll be glad to show you this beautiful place and enjoy these amazing views from up there.
The hike will take us around 2 hours. Based on the program, we can start in the morning or in the afternoon. I usually bring my clients on the glacier once we arrive at Albert 1er, in order to do some exercises and be prepared for the next day.
We will wake up early (around 4am) and go for the summit of Aiguille du Tour. We will then hike back, pass by the refuge and walk down to le Tour in the valley.
