Ready to carve fresh tracks and conquer untouched terrain? This Kackar ski adventure is for seasoned off-piste enthusiasts seeking a truly authentic and thrilling adventure.
Glide through diverse landscapes and master wide-open slopes with thrilling inclines of up to 35 degrees. Navigate powder-filled forests and exhilarating gullies with slopes reaching 25 degrees.
Our home base for this trip will be the warm town of Olgunlar, situated in the Kackar mountains at an elevation of 2,000m and encompassed by hills exceeding 3,000m. During winter, the town remains uninhabited, with our guesthouse being the sole-occupied establishment.
Venture into a different valley each day throughout the week-long camp via snowcats. Some of these locations have never been explored by ski enthusiasts.
Each morning, a snowcat ride will take you to the most remote valleys, with accommodation provided at a hotel nestled in the heart of the Kackar mountains. You'll have the opportunity to embark on an ascent of the highest peak in the Pontic mountains, Kackar Dagi (3,937m), with the support of a ski guide from the Turkish Mountaineering Federation.
Prior experience in off-piste skiing is essential, as the Kackar mountains are not suitable for first-time off-piste skiers. Each group is categorized based on their skill level and preferences to ensure that everyone can engage in skiing activities that align with their comfort level.

9:45 to 16:00 - The day commences with avalanche safety training to familiarize participants with essential knowledge of avalanche rescue. Then, we will board the snowcat, heading north towards the summer camp known as Dupeduzu (2765m). From there, we will traverse to the mountain pass (3419m) located beneath the rocky peak of Geztepe. This leg of the trip involves a 550m ascent and a 2km trek, leading to a 7.5km downhill ski with a descent of 1,350m!

8:00 to 15:00 – Departing from our guesthouse and traveling south, we will board a snowcat for a 1000-meter ascent. The final 300 meters to the summit will be completed using climbing skins, reaching an elevation of 3050m. From there, a 500-meter descent will lead to the valley, guiding us to the town of Dargit Yaylasi, where we will be creating the first tracks. Afterward, we will apply climbing skins and make our way back towards Yaylalar. Our objective is to reach one of the peaks adjacent to the Kanucar Gecit Pass (3075m.a.s.l.) – either 3165m or 3216m. Subsequently, we will ski downhill to the guesthouse, covering a descent of 1200 meters.

20:00 - Debriefing and announcement of next day's itinerary
6:00-7:00 - Breakfast
7:00-15:00 - Our goal for the day is to conquer Kackar Dagi, the highest peak in the range at 3,937 meters above sea level. While the ascent is technically straightforward, the journey from the guesthouse involves a gain in altitude of over 1,800 meters and spans 11 kilometers, which may not allow sufficient time for a safe summit attempt on a shorter day. To address this, we will utilize a snowcat for the initial 6 kilometers and 600 meters of altitude, before the terrain becomes steeper. This strategy will leave us with a remaining 5 kilometers and 1,250 meters of altitude to cover, followed by a lengthy 11-kilometer descent spanning nearly two kilometers.

8:00-15:00 - We will board the snowcat and travel north once again, this time ascending 3 kilometers to the pass that divides Yaylalar and Satelef Yayla. From there, we will go on a 700-meter ascent on steep terrain with an incline of approximately 35 degrees, arriving at the pass at 3050m above sea level. After that, we will descend through Satelef Yayla, Korahmet, Karamolla, all the way to Yaylar, covering a downhill ski spanning 8 kilometers and descending 1200 meters. An off-road vehicle will pick us up from Yaylalar and transport us back to the guesthouse on a 14-kilometer downhill loop.

6:00-7:00 - Breakfast
8:00-15:00 - We will ride the snowcat in a southern direction, ascending another 1000 meters. Then, we will travel along the blue ridge towards the village of Modut Yayla, enjoying a blue ridge hike to reach this remote village. Accessible only by skiing due to the lack of road access, we will ski all the way down to the road, where a 4x4 off-road vehicle will be awaiting us, after descending 1500 meters in altitude over a 5-kilometer track.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
