Early in the morning, we embark on a journey along the scenic Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway, following the picturesque route alongside the Trisuli and Marsyangdi Rivers. As we travel this path, we are entranced by the stunning beauty of Nepal's countryside, adorned with verdant hills, flowing rivers, and charming terraced farms. After a substantial 6-7 hours of travel, we reach Besisahar, the administrative headquarters of Lamjung, where various local government offices are situated.
From this central location, we are treated to splendid views of renowned mountain peaks, surrounded by an abundance of natural green landscapes that embrace the valley. Witnessing the daily activities of the cheerful local residents enhances our experience. Besisahar serves as a vital distribution center for essential goods, catering to the needs of neighboring villages and towns.
After breakfast, we depart from Besisahar in a local jeep, traveling towards Chame. Our journey takes us through scenic landscapes, including lush jungles and terraced farms along the picturesque Marsyangdi River. We will pass the tranquil Jagat Bazaar and make a brief stop at Dharapani (1860m) to verify our trekking permit, which is the primary entry point for the Annapurna circuit trek. Continuing our jeep ride, we eventually reach Chame.
Chame itself features a lively bazaar and provides the perfect opportunity to relax by the invigorating hot springs located along the banks of the Marsyangdi River. From this vantage point, we are treated to captivating views of Annapurna II (7,937m) and Lamjung Himal (6,932m), while a glimpse behind reveals the awe-inspiring Manaslu (8,154m) and Peak 29 (7,833m). We will spend the night at a local teahouse in Chame.
As the morning sun casts its light on Lamjung Himal (6893m), we set out on our journey towards Pisang. Trekking through a captivating fir and pine forest, we ascend to a rocky highland, with an impassable cliff visible on the opposite bank. As we continue towards Bhratang (2950m), the valley becomes increasingly steep.
Beyond the pine forest, the valley transitions from a V-shape to a gentle U-shape, revealing a breathtaking panorama. The majestic east peak of Annapurna II and the captivating Pisang Peak (6091m) adorn the northeastern horizon. Our path leads us to a captivating sight of a long Mani wall beside a bridge, welcoming us to the lower village of Pisang, where we spend the night at a cozy lodge.
After Pisang, the trail takes us up a steep ridge, offering splendid views of the stunning Manang valley and the majestic Tilicho peak (7145m). Descending past Manang’s airstrip at Hungde (3320m), we come to a flat area with an enchanting view of the northeast face of Annapurna III towering above us. Not far away, the grandeur of Annapurna IV (7525m) reveals itself from the wide plains of the Sabje Khola Valley.
Continuing on, we cross the reduced flow of the Marshyangdi Khola via a sturdy wooden bridge, leading to the charming village of Mungji. After a short but steep climb, we reach Manang, a surprisingly large village in this remote mountain region. We will rest for the night at a cozy lodge, surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the Himalayas.
Today, our primary objective is acclimatization, yet our schedule will be full as we immerse ourselves in the captivating surroundings of Manang village. In the morning, we will embark on an exploration of Gangapurna Lake, taking in its breathtaking beauty. Throughout the day, we will be treated to awe-inspiring views of Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang, and Chulu Peaks.
In the afternoon, we may visit the Himalayan Rescue Association in Vraja village. Here, we will gain valuable insights into acute mountain sickness, including its symptoms and preventive measures. This informative session will equip us to stay safe and healthy during our adventure.
The trail gently winds alongside the picturesque Thorong Khola, leading us through Tangki Manang and Ghusang at an altitude of 3900m before finally arriving at the serene destination of Yak Kharka. As we cross a stream on the way, we ascend to the charming village of Tenki, situated above Manang, and then continue our climb out of the Marshyangdi Valley, heading northwest towards the scenic Jarsang Khola Valley. Along the northern path, we pass through lush pastures and clusters of juniper trees, steadily gaining elevation.
Our journey takes us near the quaint village of Ghunsa, characterized by its flat mud roofs nestled just below the trail. Continuing on, we trek through inviting meadows where contented horses and yaks graze peacefully, providing a delightful sight. Before long, we will arrive at our resting point for the night – Yak Kharka, a serene spot surrounded by the beauty of nature.
The trek to Thorang Phedi starts with a demanding uphill climb. As we progress, we encounter a suspension bridge and reach the delightful village of Ledar. Continuing our ascent, we navigate through impressive cliffs until reaching Thorang Phedi, the final village before the Thorong La pass.
During this journey, we are treated to stunning panoramas of majestic peaks such as Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak, and Mt. Khatungkan. In Nepalese, "Phedi" denotes the base of a mountain. Our overnight stay in Thorang Phedi ensures that we rest well before proceeding to the Thorong La pass the following day.
On our 8th day, we reach the pinnacle of the Annapurna circuit trek, a significant moment as we ascend to an impressive altitude of 5,416 meters, prepared to take on the challenges ahead. Departing early in the morning around 3:00 am, we set out on the thrilling journey across Thorong La (5,416m). The scenery is truly awe-inspiring, with majestic snow-covered mountains towering above, the Kali Gandaki valley unfolding below, and the captivating brown and purple hills of Mustang stretching out before us.
As we advance, the rugged moraines gradually transition to gentle grassy slopes, creating a pleasant and rewarding trek. Following the winding path along the Jhong Khola Valley, we eventually arrive at the sacred site of Muktinath, adorned with shrines and temples. It is a place of deep spiritual significance, providing a moment for reflection and reverence.
For the night, we can find comfort and rest at the lodge in Muktinath, cherishing the memories of this extraordinary day as we prepare for the adventures that await us in the days to come.
After a lengthy and exhausting trek, our adventure comes to a close. Today, we begin our journey to Pokhara by local bus. During the 10-11 hour bus ride, we will pass through the awe-inspiring Kali Gandaki gorge, transitioning from the arid, high-altitude landscape to the lush lowlands adorned with vibrant jungles and fertile farmlands. The bus journey promises stunning views of the magnificent Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges, providing breathtaking scenery all the way until we reach our final destination, Pokhara, passing through the charming Beni Bazaar. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Pokhara and enjoy a relaxing bath after a long journey.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
