9-day Spitsbergen ski tour from a boat, Norway

With a surface area of 37,673 square kilometers, Spitsbergen (1,717 m) is the largest island in Norway and the 36th largest in the world. It is the only populated island in the Svalbard archipelago, located in the Artic Ocean, halfway between continental Norway and the North Pole.

Our meeting point will be Longyearbyen, Svalbard’s largest city and administrative center, and the northernmost city in the world. Once boarded on the “Polaris 1” boat, during 8 days we will sail through massive fjords and glaciers rising from the sea. Every day we will stop at a different part of the Spitsbergen Island for a new skiing tour.

One of the highlights of this trip is Svalbard’s exquisite wildlife. Its great tundra plains and mountains, glaciers and fjords host polar bears, seals, reindeers, foxes, and several types of migratory seabirds, which we hope to see along the way!

The “Polaris 1” has space for a maximum of 12 guests and 3 mountain guides. It offers cozy 1- and 2-bed cabins, all of them with windows and private bathroom. To make this trip even better, every night, after a long skiing day, a French chef on board will delight us with great food and wine.
