Description

There is something incredible about ski touring on enormous volcanoes. And on this 8-day adventure, you will get to ski on no less than five amazing volcanoes in Chilean Patagonia. Thus providing you with an experience that will be as gorgeous as it will be thrilling.

Our adventure will begin in Bariloche, Argentina. From there, we will make our way across the border into Chile and our adventure will begin.

Each one of the volcanoes you will be ascending and skiing on are sensational in their own unique way. The five volcanoes you will be enjoying during this trip include Osorno, Villarrica, Llaima, Antillanca and Lonquimay. Each one of the volcanoes will require an ascent between 1,000 and 1,500 meters. And, when you reach the top of each peak, you will get to enjoy some truly magnificent views, as well as fantastic skiing.

Along with the volcanoes, during this trip, you will also get to visit some great spots within Chilean Patagonia. Those spots include the towns of Osorno, Pucon and Curacautin. You will also get to enjoy some lovely hot springs during this trip as well. Thus giving you a chance to relax your muscles after a long day of climbing and skiing. Finally, you will also get to enjoy the lovely Tromen border crossing that includes a journey through some beautiful and extensive araucaria forests.

Price details

In addition to the guiding fee, the price also includes GPS, meals and accommodation in various refuges.
The price does not include ski equipment or safety equipment, including arva, shovel and probe and helmet.

Itinerary

Day 1: Bariloche

Early in the morning, we will depart from Bariloche and make our way to the Antillanca Volcano in Chile. After skiing on the volcano, we will make our way to the town of Osorno and stay in the Osorno Refuge.

Day 2: Osorno Volcano (2,630m)

Today, we will ascend the Osorno Volcano, where you can enjoy some great views and skiing before returning to the Osorno Refuge for the night.

Day 3: Villarrica Volcano (2,840m)

Today, we will make our way to the Villarrica Volcano. Afterwards, we will go to the town of Pucon, where you can enjoy some lovely hot springs before spending the night in a refuge.

Day 4: Villarrica Volcano ascent

Today, we will ascend the Villarrica Volcano, where you can enjoy some great skiing and views. After that, we will go to the village of Curacautin, where we will spend the night.

Day 5: Rest Day

Day 6: Llaima Volcano (3,125m)

Today, we will ascend the Llaima volcano, where you can enjoy some great views and skiing. Afterwards, we will return to the village of Curacautin, where you can enjoy some hot springs before resting for the night.

Day 7: Lonquimay Volcano (2,890m)

Today, we will ascend the final volcano of this trip, Lonquimay. After that, we will return to Curacautin for the night.

Day 8: Bariloche

On the final day of the trip, we will return to Bariloche through the Tromen border crossing, through the base of the Lanin Volcano and some beautiful araucaria forests.

Mountain Guide

I am an IFMGA and a High Mountain AAGM certified Mountain Guide. I was born in San Juan, where I found my passion for the mountains when I was a child. Today my home is El Chalten, this magical place where I have my family and where I work and live since 2008.

I have climbed many different peaks along the Andes, as well as in Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, France, Spain, Germany Italy, Austria and Switzerland. I have climbed great mountains and new routes in Patagonia, both in Cerro Torre and in the Fitz Roy mountains. I climbed Mount Fitz Roy five times and Mount Torre three times. All of them through different routes and some of them opening a new one.

One of my biggest achievements was the Standhardt - Herron - Egger traverse and the "Directa Huarpe" new route, on the west face of Cerro Torre. As well as climbing the Tehuelche route on the Fitz Roy hill in 16 hours.

I also guide in the Central Andes, in places such as Cerro Mercedario and Vallecitos in Mendoza, among other mountains. I am also a Mountaineering and Climbing instructor in different associations and member of the relief committee at the Club Andino Mercedario of the San Juan Province. I am also a member of the technical committee of the Argentine Association of Mountain Guides, in which I am part of the staff of instructors for IFMGA guides.

I guide my clients mainly in Patagonia. I spend summer in the town of El Chalten and I move to Bariloche, in northern Patagonia, in the winter, where I guide more technical excursions, like ice and/or rock climbing, as well as classic mountaineering ascents. During the year I also guide in the mountains of Peru, Bolivia and in Europe.

Even when I’m not working I enjoy climbing, bouldering, sport skiing and mountaineering. Keeping at my highest level of performance helps me ensure my clients’ safety, that is always my top priority.

Due to bad weather, we had to move the day of the climb, and instead of Indio, Pipa took me to the walls across the river in the Paredon de Los Condores. We had a great day of climbing; Pipa was super chilled and knowledgeable, sharing a lot of helpful tips and guiding me up the wall.
