Description

Alaska is a wonderful land to get lost in the wilderness. The unspoilt nature is extremely attractive for trekking lovers. The remote sections of Alaska are rather inaccessible, as wilderness can be extreme. I propose to you a trek in the Talkeetna Mountains with trained yaks.

The yaks will make the trek more accessible to outdoors lovers, as you will not have to carry heavy backpacks. Instead, you will be able to fully enjoy nature in the wonderful environment of the Talkeetna Mountains. The trek has a moderate difficulty level. If you are in good physical shape you most likely are apt for this trek.

The trip starts with a flight that takes us to the camp. There the yaks await to accompany us during the program. We will hike in the area of majestic mountains such as Foraker and Denali. The landscapes are stunning and you will get to appreciate the arctic wilderness. We might see bears, wolves, moose, caribou and sheep.

We will reach a maximum altitude of 1524 meters. There are no trails to follow, so we will be in the backcountry. Although the program is quite set, not having a fixed trail route is one of the highlights of the program. You might notice in the detailed itinerary below that the distances don’t seem too long each day. But we will be walking on tundra and tussocks, which can be quite tiring.

If you are interested in joining this wonderful trek with yaks in the Talkeetna Mountains, please book this trip and we will set the details! It will be a unique trek you will never forget. And for more trekking options in Alaska, have a look at this trek of the Turquoise Glacier High Route.

Phillip

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Lucie

All perfect

Amanda

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
