Don’t miss this fantastic hiking opportunity in the Basse-Terre Island. On this adventure, we’ll explore tropical rainforests, visit small villages, enjoy swimming and relax by the sea, as well as many other experiences.
Among the destinations of this program, we’ll find the Ravine Paradis waterfalls, the Carbet Falls, La Soufrière volcano and Terre-de-Haut island in the Saintes Islands. Take a look at the bottom of the page for a detailed description of each day’s activities.

First, we’ll meet in the afternoon at the International Airport of Pointe-à-Pitre. From there, we’ll transfer you to the commune of Saint-Claude, in the south of Basse-Terre, where we’ll have a brief about the program and share dinner.
On this day, we’ll cross the Grande Rivière des Vieux-Habitants and reach the Ravine Paradis Waterfall. This magical place in the middle of the Guadeloupe National Park shows luxuriant vegetation and dazzling crystalline waters.
Then, we’ll continue to La Grivellière, a coffee plantation built in the 17th century where we’ll share lunch.
Hiking time: 3 hours.
On day 3, we’ll enjoy hiking in the Grande Pointe Trail and get to see old petroglyphs and mills. After lunch, we’ll take a bath on a beach in front of the Saintes Islands.
Hiking time: 4.30 hours.
Day 4 will be the day to visit the famous Carbet Falls, one of the most popular spots on the island. The waterfalls are in the middle of a tropical rainforest in the Guadeloupe National Park. In this area, we’ll share lunch and enjoy swimming.
Hiking time: 5 hours.
On this day, we will head to the north coast of the island. We’ll enjoy walking between Deshaies and Sainte-Rose and have lunch in a restaurant by the sea.
Hiking time: 3.30 hours.
On day 6, we’ll depart to the summit of La Soufrière volcano (1,467 meters). Then, our hike will continue across a beautiful natural area to the Vieux-Fort Lighthouse, where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Once there, we’ll get to see fantastic views of Les Saintes and Dominica.
Hiking time: 5 hours.
On this day, we’ll take a boat trip from the Trois-Rivière Port to Terre-de-Haut Island, in the Saintes Islands. There, we’ll enjoy hiking from Marigot Bay to Pompierre Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. We’ll enjoy lunch, relax by the sea and have some free time to explore the village before taking the boat back.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
