Ski touring in Central Asia is getting more and more popular. I would like to offer you this 7-day skiing program in the unique walnut forest of Arslanbob, in Southwest Kyrgyzstan.
The mountains of Kyrgyzstan are known as “the Alps of Central Asia” because of the mountainous terrain that covers 90% of the country. Two famous mountain ranges run through it, the Tien Shan and Pamir Mountains, making it a great spot for ski touring.
We will be based at Arslanbob, a village located in the Jalal-Abad Region. Its woodland is the largest walnut grove on Earth, and reaches a height of 2,000 metres above sea level. It’s situated on south-facing slopes of the Fergana Range (part of the Tien Shan mountains).
This region offers a huge untouched area with great snow conditions and unforgettable landscapes. Every day you’ll ascend for around 1000 meters from the village to enjoy incredible descents on powdery slopes and through amazing wild natural woods.
Kyrgyzstan is one of the ex Soviet republics. It is bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and China. Its capital and largest city is Bishkek, which has an International Airport. We can meet there or at Osh.
Our accommodation will be a pretty simple but really charming guest house. There, you will enjoy the Kyrgyz cuisine, hospitality and culture.
So, if you want to ski outside the lines in Central Asia, far away from the crowds, please contact me. I am sure that you will love this ski touring experience in Kyrgyzstan!

Mountain Guide
Based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, I’m an IFMGA-certified guide and the technical director of the Kyrgyz Mountain Guide Association (KMGA). I'm also a certified mountain guide and mountaineering instructor, and a “Snow Leopard” — having summited all five peaks over 7000m in the former Soviet Union. I’ve received extensive training in Switzerland and I’m a certified rescuer (carrying out rescues up to 6800m).
Ski touring and mountaineering are my two biggest passions and I love sharing these activities with my clients. I specialize in high altitude and technical ascents, heliskiing, backcountry camps and avalanche courses.
I’ve stood on the summit of a 7-thousander more than 20 times — including Lenin, Korjenevskaya, Communism (Somoni), Pobeda and Mustagh-Ata, among others. I’ve also participated in ski mountaineering expeditions to Lenin Peak and Mustagh-Ata and several 4-thousanders around the world.
I’ve also been organizing my own avalanche courses since 2009 and was in charge of translating materials on the Russian risk reduction method Nivocheck. I speak English and Russian.
