Join me on this 7-day Mount Kenya summit circuit trek, with a gradual and paced ascent to the top of the mountain via the Sirimon route, and a quick descent through the Chogoria route.
Mount Kenya is Kenya’s highest peak and Africa’s second highest mountain, after Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Erosion and time have reduced the peak from 6500m to 5199 on the highest point today. This extinct volcano, dating back 2.5 million years old, is located about 200 kilometers north of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, in the Mount Kenya National Park.
This Sirimon Chogoria route itinerary follows a gentle ascent trail up to Mount Kenya. This 7-day program was designed to provide an effective acclimatization to altitude, by adding extra but shorter hiking days to the itinerary.
This program splits the distance to the base of the peaks of Mount Kenya into three sections, instead of the usual two. This allows you to complete the summit circuit at ease, following the anticlockwise directions.
The trek will take us around the mountain passing Hausberg col (4,600m) and enjoying spectacular views of the rocky peakss, tarns and suspended glaciers of the west face of Batian peak. On the sixth day, an early morning hike will take us to Point Lenana (4,985m), the hikers’ summit, then we will quickly descend via the Chogoria trail. You can check the day-by-day itinerary below.
Bear in mind you need a decent level of fitness to enjoy this trek, you should be comfortable hiking 6-8 hours a days. This program offers an excellent gradual acclimatization to altitude, following an easy pace and avoiding headaches and symtpoms of mountain sickness.
An extra day at Shipton’s Camp is the key to take all the pressure off the itinerary, allowing you to enjoy this great trek around Mount Kenya.
So if you want to join us on this 7-day Moun Kenya ascent, just contact us! Book your trip and come experience an unforgettable mountain trek.

In June, 2009 I climbed Mount Kenya, with Trekking Mount Kenya. I spent 4 days on the mountain and experienced the wonderful challenge and the friendly helpfulness and knowledge of my guides and porters. Everything was provided for my comfort and enjoyment so that it was a thoroughly fabulous and memorable trek! I recommend this company whole-heartedly.
Very organized, very friendly and professional staff. The tour was great, everything was as planned.

The Climbing Guides and service in both Kenya and Tanzania were super (5+ stars) Kenya Shem, Joxhu, Joseph & Agustin super and thanks. For Kilimanjaro, Deus and Goodlucky were fantastic. However Claudios needs to update the schedule (Lake Nakuru day 7 was canceled) and make available lunches (they were missing on 3 days to and from Nairobi) and make clear when travel will be alone. Finally the Nairobi service agent pushes additional add on Nairobi packages. These are of poor value and should be avoided. These additional package coverage was misleading and I should have avoided completely. This was a Nairobi issue only. Everyone else was above board and super to work with. in summary, the climbs are great and highly recommended. Note the published schedule is not exact and deal with the Nairobi service agent with caution. (Don't take the additional offerings.) Overall it was a very good experience where I met with many great people. Thanks to all.
