Description

Join me for this picturesque and awe-inspiring 6-day trek through the wilderness of Patagonia as we camp on lagoon shores and hike through mountain passes!

This might be one of the best treks you can find in northern Patagonia due to its varied landscapes, physical challenge, and the comfort of its accommodation options. This tour starts in Colonia Suiza and ends in Pampa Linda.

After meeting in Bariloche, we will discuss our itinerary and check out our gear. Then early the next morning, we transfer to Colonia Suiza and the journey begins.

Over the course of the next five days, we will hike through glaciers, mountain passes, and on the banks of the numerous lagoons in the area. To whet your appetite for the spectacular views you will become accustomed to by the end of the trip, on the very first day of hiking we make our way to Refugio Italia and enjoy the spectacular vistas it affords.

As we trek through valleys and across mountain streams, Monte Tronador will be among the many peaks that loom over us, capturing our attention and imagination. We will get close enough to hear the falling of seracs of this famous mountain.

A high level of physical fitness prior to the trip is recommended. All the hard work will pay off as we descend from mountain passes, and catch sight of the incredible surroundings of some of these lagoons.

As our trip begins to wind down, we will ascend Filo del Capitan and bask in the spectacular views of some of the mountains and glaciers we have just passed through, including Monte Tronador. On the final day, we will have the option of climbing Mirada del Doctor for a quick encore, before making our way to Pampa Linda.

From this idyllic village, we will transfer back to Bariloche and bid each other farewell.

So what are you waiting for? Book now and join this amazing Bariloche 5 lagoons trek in Patagonia!

If you like the look of this trip, then I think you will also enjoy the 3-day guided ascent of Cerro Tronador near Bariloche that I guide!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

We will meet in Bariloche and go over the trip itinerary and check our gear.

Day 2: Colonia Suiza-Laguna Negra

Transfer to Colonia Suiza.

We begin the adventure following the classic trail to
Laguna Negra (Black Lagoon), skirting the left banks of the Goye River. This is an
easy, pretty flat, well-marked path that becomes steeper after a traditional camping site.
This is the more significant ascent of the day. From the river to the hut located right next
to Laguna Negra, there are about 450 meters of altitude difference that we will
overcome through a long and continuous winding path. Our prize will be the Italia Hut
(1650 mts), surrounded by stunning mountain peaks and breathtaking alpine
landscapes.

Day 2- 1 1 km,  950 mts.,  6 hours,  Italia Shelter

Day 3: Laguna CAB

We will begin our trek skirting Laguna Negra towards the col dividing Mount
Negro from Mount Bailey Willis, the first panoramic viewpoint of this circuit. The first
thing that catches our attention is the magnificent Mount Tronador (3550 m.a.s.l.) and Laguna CAB (CAB Lagoon) below. From the col, we will face a steep descent to the bottom of the valley, where we will find the Lluvco River, the first river that we will have to cross. We will then follow the river to the confluence with La Chata stream, which we will also have to
cross before our last ascent to the beautiful  CAB Lagoon (1480 m).

Day 3-  7 km,  350 mts.,  6/7 hours,  Camp

Day 4: Laguna Creton

This is the most challenging day of the tour. We start by skirting the small lake and then descending through a steep path to Mount CAB. Over the ridge, we will enjoy another
breathtaking panoramic viewpoint of Mount Tronador, which is getting closer and closer.
After the ridge, we will descend to Mate Dulce Valley, a perfect spot to rest before the
next ascent. In order to reach Laguna Creton (our next camping site), we have to trek to the top of Mount Cristal’s ridge (2000 m) and then descend to the small lagoon (1650 m).

The beautiful environment surrounding the lagoon makes the whole effort worth it.

Day 4 -10 km, 450 mts., 7 hours,  Camp

Day 5: Laguna Ilon

After a tasty breakfast, we will trek to Laguna Jujuy  (1850 m). On the way we will stop at
the Laguna Azul (Blue Lagoon) viewpoint, maybe one of the most beautiful lagoons of this tour. From
Jujuy lagoon, we will continue our ascent to the Capitán ridge (1950 m), where we will be able
to enjoy magnificent views of Mount Tronador and its huge glaciers. We will finally
descend to today’s destination, Laguna Ilon. On our way, we will trek past big wet
meadows and short lenga beaches, which will slowly change into a more clean and open forest.

Day 5- 8 km,  400 mts., 6 hours,  Camp

Day 6: Pampa Linda

During breakfast we will enjoy a wonderful gift from mother nature: Mount Tronador reflected on the surface of the lake. With our energies recharged, we have the option,
before descending to Pampa Linda, to visit the Mirada del Doctor. This is a panoramic
viewpoint located just one hour away from the lake, where you will be able to see the
majestic Mount Tronador together with a unique view of Lake Fray and the Tristeza arm of the Nahuel Huapi lake right behind it. This spot is also home to hundreds of condor
nests, which means that we will most likely be able to see some of these magnificent
birds from a very short distance. Once back at the camp, we will start our last descent,
first through wet meadows, and then through a path that will take us to the Alerce River, which we will have to wade across. Once in Pampa Linda, a transfer will drive us back
to Bariloche.

Day 6 – 12 km, 200 mts,  6 hours,  Bariloche

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Valeriya

You’re simply the best!!! :))) Explore-Share made everything easy and stress-free. Will definitely use again.

Joshua

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Cami

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
