Get ready to push your limits and join me on this amazing 14-day mountain bike adventure along the amazing Tian Shan mountain range. 

This is a demanding bike trip for those of you who are looking for an expedition in a remote country like Kyrgyzstan. For two weeks we’ll be cycling along the beautiful Tian Shan mountain range, that crosses the north west part of the country.

During the trip you’ll contemplate some of the most amazing scenery that you can imagine. We’ll go over lakes, rivers and mountain passes.

But it will be a demanding ride. We’ll be cycling at almost 4000 meters above sea level every day. We’ll be staying in tent camps or guest houses, while we enjoy the local cuisine.

The main goal of the trip we’ll be for you to enjoy the amazing landscapes and get to know the culture of Kyrgyzstan from the unique perspective of cycling through the country.

    Itinerary

    Day 1: Arrival to Bishkek

    Morning arrival to Bishkek airport  and transfer to the guesthouse. After a rest in the guest house we’ll drive out of town to take a short ride in some close by mountains near, for acclimatization. One option is to ride to Ala-Archa National Park.
    100 km by car, 30-50 km of cycling.

    Day 2: Bishkek – Suusamyr valley – Chaek

    Drive to Suusamyr valley over Tuya-Ashuu pass. Start cycling from the valley through Kokomeren gorge towards Chaek village. Overnight in tent camp or family run accommodation in Chaek.
    150 km by car, around 80 km of cycling.

    Day 3: Chaek – Kara-Keche pass – Son-Kul

    Ride over Kara-Keche pass and descent to Son-Kul lake. Overnight in yurt camp.
    150 km by car, around 80 km of cycling.

    Day 4: Son-Kul

    Ride along the South and East shore of Son-Kul lake. Overnight in tent or yurt camp.
    Around 40 km of cycling.

    Day 5: Son-Kul – Sary-Bulak

    Ride over Kalmak-Ashuu pass and descent to Sary-Bulak village. Stay in tent camp behind the village.
    Around 70 km of cycling.

    Day 6: Sary Bulak – Jalpak-Bel pass

    Ride from Sary-Bulak village up-stream of Kara-Kudjur river. In the end of the valley we’ll turn right towards Jalpak Bel pass. Ascent to the pass. Overnight in tent camp about the pass.
    Around 70 km of cycling.

    Day 7: Jalpak-Bel pass

    Descent from the pass and then up-stream of Balgart river and it right confluent Dzhyluu-Suu river. Stop at the mineral hot springs. Overnight in tents.
    Around 80 km of cycling.

    Day 8: Dzhyluu - Suu hot springs – Chunkur Kol lake

    All day cycling uphill along Uchemchek (Ashuluu-Tebe) gorge, and stop at the footstep of Tosor pass. We’ll set our camp there and then radial trip to Chunkur-Kol mountain lake.
    Around 40 km of cycling.

    Day 9: Chunkur Kol lake – Tosor pass – Tamga village

    Ascent to Tosor pass and descent along Tosor gorge towards Issyk-Kul’s shore. Then short ride along asphalt road to Tamga village. Accommodation in guesthouse.
    Around 50 km of cycling.

    Day 10: Rest day in Tamga

    Day of rest and relax on beaches of Issyk-Kul and swimming in the lake. Accommodation in guesthouse.

    Day 11: Tamga – Djety Oguz

    Ride to Djety-Oguz gorge. More than half of the way is along asphalt road. But after we turn from the main road to the gorge, you ride along rising unpaved road. Overnight in yurt or tent camp.
    Around 80 km of cycling.

    Day 12: Djety Oguz – Karakol

    Ride downhill to the main road, and then further to Karakol town. After lunch we’ll take a ride around the city. Accommodation in guest house.
    Around 80 km of cycling.

    Day 13: Karakol – Bishkek

    Drive to Bishkek by car along the North shore of Issyk-Kul lake and Boom gorge. Accommodation in Guest House. Farewell dinner in restaurant.
    420 km by car.

    Day 14: Bishkek – airport

    Transfer to the airport and flight home.

    Recommended list of private things for the tour: warm clothes, windstopper and waterproof jacket, sunglasses, sun block cream (SPF 20-30), sun hat, sleeping bag, gloves, sleeping bag, mattress, helmet and armour for riding. Also it is recommended to have medical insurance.
