The Val d’Herens is a beautiful valley with exceptional landscapes, in the heart of the canton of Valais. Unspoilt nature, flowers, high alpine pastures and even higher mountains, glaciers and charming villages make for a unique setting, perfect for a wonderful hiking tour.
I invite you to join me on this 5-day Tour du Val d’Herens hiking program and discover the amazing natural beauty of this region. We will spend a great time, enjoying the sunshine and great weather of this fantastic area in Switzerland.
I propose the following itinerary, however, if you have something different in mind, just let me know and we can organize a different tour. Please note you need a good physical condition to join this tour, as there are some difficult sections.
On the first day, we will meet in Thyon and hike to to Grande Dixence. This is a spectacular panoramic hike, with a unique backdrop: snow-capped peaks and the Grande Dixence, Europe’s highest dam. This stage will take us about 5 hours.
On Day 2, we will head towards Arolla. Today we will link two valleys, the Val d’Heremence and the Val d’Arolla. We will hike on a flat trail along Switzerland’s largest reservoir, surrounded by spectacular snowy mountains. We will go up to the Col de Riedmatten, a mountain pass that links the two valleys, on a steep and quite dramatic climb. Then we will hike down to the village of Arolla.
The third stage of our tour takes us from the stunning Val d’Arolla to the charming village of Evolène, with its well preserved wooden houses and flowers, a great way to discover the traditional way of life in this region. Along the way, we will hikeg through historical villages, enjoying natural beauty all the way.
On the fourth day, we hike to the Cabane Becs de Bosson, an amazing climb that takes us through forests and beautiful alpine pastures to end in a high-altitude refuge. Here we will enjoy the most spectacular views of the tour, over many of Valais’ 4000-meter peaks.
Our final stage, on the fifth day, takes us from the Cabane Becs de Bosson into the beautiful and pristine Vallon de Rèchy, a true wildlife paradise, and then down to the village of Nax, with amazing views of the Rhone Valley.
If you want to join us on this unique tour in the beautiful Val d’Herens, just send us a request! Come discover the stunning natural beauty of this region in Switzerland.
We can also take you on an easier and shorter hike on the wonderful Matterhorn trail, where you can see the famous peak up close, from many different viewpoints.

This was a great trip and Explore Share made finding the right trip super easy. Our guide was personable, extremely knowledgeable, and experienced and willing to teach us the skills we would have needed to climb the Matterhorn. Unfortunatly, the conditions were not right to climb so our guide recemmended another trip which was still a great experience and lots of fun.

Very user friendly platform with timely responses from Explore Share representatives. The trip itself with Tom from Alps Adventures was awesome and ensure that we had an experience that was 100% what we wanted. Recommend both the platform and the guide. Thanks to all for arranging and delivering so well.

I had am amazing time during the 1-day off-piste training course at Hoch-Ybrig. Urs, our main mountain guide, was very helpful in answering my queries before the course, and Lupe from explore-share was helpful in selecting the course. We had 3 groups under Urs, Mario and Patrick, and I was in the group with Patrick. He gave us a lot of nice tips and individualized video analysis. He made a special effort to convey everything in English, since I don't know German. All the participants were very helpful and friendly too! The course is good value for money as skis are included for the weekend in the course price.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
