Description

It is no secret that Austria is an incredible destination for those who crave great snow conditions.  During this 5-day journey, I will guide you to some of the best off-piste terrain in the backcountry of the beautiful Hohe Tahuern National Park!

During this trip, we will have the incredible opportunity to explore the area around Grossvenediger.  At 3,666 meters, this picturesque snowcapped peak is one of the tallest mountains of the Hohe Tahuern Mountain Range, a subrange of the Austrian Central Alps.  The national park of the same name is conveniently located midway between the regions of Salzburg and East Tyrol.  The region is home to some truly stunning alpine scenery, making it the perfect setting for our 5-day adventure.

We will begin in the Dorfer Valley as we make our way to Johannis Hutte, a cozy mountain hut which will serve as our base for the duration of the trip.  The following days, we have many great options for exploration depending on your interests as well as the snow and weather conditions.  For instance, we can experience the varied terrain of Zopatspitz and the Tulp Spitze, or we can explore ice fields before ascending – and, of course, descending – Kristallwand, a glacier of 3,329 meters.  Alternately, we can head past the hut Defreggerhaus to reach the Rainer Törl.  As you can see, there are no shortage of adventures awaiting!

However, no snowboard trip to the area would be complete without a descent of Grossvenediger itself.  While the climb up will be tough, the 2,200 meter snowboard descent back to the bottom of the valley will certainly feel like pure joy.  There is nothing better than an exhilarating ride down the pristine snow conditions of a breathtaking mountain!

Participants should have previous snowboard touring experience, as well as a solid fitness level.  The terrain is not technically challenging, but the trip involves long ascents of 5-7 hours.

Book now and I guarantee a memorable experience riding the incredible terrain of the Austrian Alps.  I can’t wait to guide you to my favorite spots for some incredible riding!

I also offer other off-piste trips in Austria: 3-day guided splitboarding trip in Stubai Valley, 3-day freeride snowboarding tour in Zillertal, Austria, and 2-day off-piste snowboarding in Kitzbühel Alps!

What people are saying about Andreas

Leanid

We had a great time with Andreas. He is very professional and experienced guide. He provided good safety session before our trip and provided personal safety equipment for a very reasonable price. His choice of routes were correctly matched to our abilities to challenge us and provide quite an exciting time. We would never be able to experience this kind of skiing without a guide and Andi was a great choice. I would highly recommend him to any clients from a beginners to a professionals. Also I enjoyed using your site for booking guide services. You were fast and informative. Transaction was simple, transparent and rate was very competetive. Thank you

Joe
