Running through the western tip of Austria, the Ötztaler Alps are home to some of this alpine country’s most incredible ski touring opportunities.
And there is no better way to experience them than by heading out on a hut-to-hut ski touring traverse along the popular Venter Runde!
Beginning in the idyllic mountain village of Vent, we will start the adventure by heading south, skiing through the high-quality powder of the Ötztal valley until we reach the Similaun hut.
Getting an early start the following morning, we will skin our way up to the summit of Similaun, enjoying our first panoramic views of the surroundings before racing back down the other side and heading to the Bellavista hut in neighboring Italy. (We can also head up the Finalspitze instead of Similaun, if you like).
The following day, we’re up nice and early again in order to head up Weisskugelspitze before going on to the Hoch Joch Hospiz.
Our fourth day will be similar, we’ll wake up early and head up Fluchtkogel before continuing on to Fluchtkogel.
The final day of the trip is easily the highlight as we head up Wildspitze, the highest peak in the Ötztaler Alps, before returning to Vent.
While each day, we will enjoy spectacular views of our surroundings, this day will be the most scenic by far, a great way to remember Austria by!
So what are you waiting for? Book now for this incredible 5-day hut-to-hut ski touring adventure though Austria’s stunning Ötztaler Alps!
If you like the look of this trip then I think you may also enjoy my 6-day classic ski touring traverse of the Haute Route!

Mountain Guide
Hi! I'm Renato, IFMGA guide from the Dolomites, and I work together with my colleagues Robert, Patrick & Walter (German speaking), Paolo, Matteo and Davide.
If I'm not available to guide you, one of them will take care of you.
I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.
Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.
My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).
Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Paolo was a fantastic guide, knowledgable, helpful and patient on a few tricky sections just to build confidence and keep the whole group happy. Also very cool sun glasses. The gear was solid and the route just right for us. Very much recommended.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
