Learn how to become a mountaineer in this exciting 5-day course in the stunning Canadian Rockies. During these days, we will be based in the Bow Hut, located on the eastern edge of the Wapta Icefield in the Banff National Park.
This spot is ideal to learn basic techniques and safety measures, and put that knowledge into practice! With fantastic landscapes and exhilarating summits, you’ll love this adventure in the Canadian mountains.
During these 5 days, I’ll teach you some of the most important mountaineering skills. For example, how to assess the safety of the place, possible risks and how to act in case of an emergency.
You’ll need to rent (or bring) technical equipment for this trip. We’ll go over its use, how to take care of it and its limitations. The list includes a helmet, harnesses, a backpack, mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axe and glacial travel/crevasse rescue kit. Most importantly, I’ll teach you how to use an ice axe and some other self-arrest techniques.
You’ll also learn about navigation and route planning. This will be useful for our following climbs in the nearby summits, weather permitting.
Other things we’ll review include: glacial travel methods, glacier morphology and crevasses, snow & ice travel techniques and anchors. In addition, you’ll learn the basis of crevasse rescue.
So book your trip now and get ready to become a mountaineer. I would love to guide you through the impressive Canadian Rockies in the beautiful Banff National Park.

What a thrilling experience! My husband has been wanting to Ice Climb for some time, so I arranged this during our ski trip to Banff. Needless to say the process was easy, all gear, lunch and transportation was arranged for us. Being on vacation you dont always have everything you need for a trip like this, our guide Patrick thought of everything, he even brought extra clothing for us in case we needed more warmth!! The whole adventure was more than we hoped for, thank you so much to Patrick and the team for making this memorable!!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
