Description

Explore the Silvretta Alps with me during this guided 5-day splitboarding tour! We will visit highlights of a region famous for its incredible backcountry terrain!

Running along the border between Switzerland and Austria, 3,000 m peaks and glaciers dot the landscape of the Silvretta Alps.  Adventurers flock to the area to enjoy the incredible mountain vistas, great snow and exciting terrain in a classic alpine setting.  Plus, there are many adventures that can be enjoyed by intermediate level splitboarders in the area around the 3,312 m peak of Piz Buin, one of the most popular ascents in the region.

During this guided tour, we will start from the Austrian village of Partenen and spend the following days exploring the mountains from both the Swiss and Austrian sides of the range.  We will sleep in mountain huts along the way to complete the splitboard tour experience.

A day-by-day outline of the route is provided below so you can get an idea of the peaks we will ascend – and descend – along the way.  If the conditions are favorable, we will even have the chance to ascend Piz Buin itself.  Not only is the route spectacular, but the border between Austria and Switzerland passes directly through the summit of this mountain, making this a particularly memorable summit as you stand in both countries!

While this is a long 5-day trip that will require good fitness to complete all the ascents and descents, it is technically suited for intermediate level splitboarders.  Portions of our ascents may involve the use of harness and ropes, but I will provide the equipment and guide you along the way.

Book now for this incredible opportunity to explore the area around Piz Buin!  I can’t wait to guide you to some of the incredible highlights of the area!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

We will meet in Partenen, located on the Vorarlberg side of the Silvretta Pass, where we will check our gear and make sure we’re ready to go.  Then, we transfer to Biehlerhöhe (2,035 m).

Day 2: Warm Up

We’ll spend the day acclimatizing to the mountains with a warm up in the area around our mountain hut.

Day 3: Jamtalspitze

Today we’ll ascend our first peak: Jamtalspitze.  After, we take an exciting snowboard descent and traverse the pass into Switzerland arriving at the Chamonna Tuoi Hut.  It will take about 5 hrs with a descent of approx. 800 m.

Day 4: Piz Buin

Today, we head up the popular Piz Buin (3, 312 m).  There are multiple routes we can take – either a steep couloir or an open glacier.  Once we celebrate the summit, we will enjoy the exhilarating descent on our boards, reaching the Silvretta Hut for the night.  About 6 hrs. with an ascent of 1,100 m.

Day 5: Departure

We will take the Rote Furka back to Austria for our final departure.  We ascend the Klostertaler Glacier, then continue to  Schneeglocke (3, 223 m).  About 3 hrs and 800 m ascent.  Then, a spectacular descent on our boards back to Bielerhöhe is a fitting end to the adventure.

What people are saying about Andreas

Leanid

We had a great time with Andreas. He is very professional and experienced guide. He provided good safety session before our trip and provided personal safety equipment for a very reasonable price. His choice of routes were correctly matched to our abilities to challenge us and provide quite an exciting time. We would never be able to experience this kind of skiing without a guide and Andi was a great choice. I would highly recommend him to any clients from a beginners to a professionals. Also I enjoyed using your site for booking guide services. You were fast and informative. Transaction was simple, transparent and rate was very competetive. Thank you

Joe
