Join me on this awesome 5-day backcountry ski tour and I promise you will make memories to last a lifetime, as we tackle the mighty Mt. Rainier in Washington State, a towering and world-famous mountain that provides some of the best panoramic views in the USA, as well as geography that includes glaciers, snowfields and volcanic craters.
Located just 95km away from Seattle, Mt. Rainier is the highest peak in Washington State and one of the most prominent mountains in the lower 48 states of the USA. It is currently an active volcano, and its topography and terrain make it a veritable outdoor recreation mecca, as there is ample space for skiing, hiking and more.
We meet at our headquarters in Ashford on the first day, where all relevant equipment and safety information is dispensed. We then leave early the next morning and set off for Camp Muir, where we stay overnight.
The subsequent two days are spent traipsing and travailing around various mesmerizing glaciers, such as Cowlitz, Ingraham, Emmons, Inter and Carbon, which all provide some captivating and marvelous views out over the sweeping valleys and mountainsides, meaning you will be reaching for your camera constantly.
The final two days are spent skiing around the beautiful area of the Carbon Glacier and Ipsut Creek, two glorious regions full of picture-perfect alpine forests and clean, crisp fresh air.
We then finish by following the Carbon River Road and then heading back to the meeting point in Ashford, hopefully having whetted your appetite for more ski touring in the wonderful state of Washington.
