Description

Yellowstone is the first national park in the U.S. and in the whole world, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It extends over 8,983 km² (3,468.4 sq mi) in the states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Known for its wildlife and geothermal features, Yellowstone contains beautiful lakes, canyons, rivers, waterfalls, and mountain ranges, as well as unique species of plants and wild animals.

During our 4-day trip, we will hike a total distance of around 54 km (34 mi), through almost untraveled backcountry trails.

We will first cross the magnificent Pelican Valley, probably the prime location in Yellowstone for the famous grizzly bears, as well as home to the American bison, elks, gray wolves, and several types of migratory birds. We will then head east to take the Mist Creek Pass, which lies in the Abasorka Mountains, a sub-range of the Rocky Mountains (4,401 m). We will gradually climb to the top of the trail, located at 2,679 meters (8,790 ft), while enjoying stunning views to the Pelican Valley and the Yellowstone Lake. Along the way, we will find hundreds of dead trees that were burned by the Clover Mist fire that devastated the area in 1988. From this point, we will take the Lamar River Trail to the north, following this 48km-long (40 mi) river’s drainage.

In addition to the stunning views and the possibility of spotting some fabulous wild animals, another highlight of the trip is camping in remote sites beside the untouched waters of the legendary Lamar River.

This trip usually takes a minimum of 2 people. The route features a moderate to high level of difficulty. Therefore, participants are required to be in good shape and have some previous hiking experience.

If you are looking for other activities in the park, I recommend the 4-day Shoshone Lake hike, the 2-day horseback riding trip, and the snowshoeing day.

Will was great wise and fun to spend the day with.

Phillip

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Lucie

All perfect

Amanda

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
