Description

The legendary Dents du Midi circuit is one of the first hiking trails in Valais. Join me on this 4-day tour and discover an extraordinary trail in a spectacular setting with wonderful scenery.

During these days, we will hike surrounded by the view of majestic peaks, alpine lakes, amazing flora and fauna and beautiful forests. The trail offers accommodation options along the way, allowing us to organize our breaks, stopping for a refreshing drink or a meal as we please. We will be staying in different huts and refuges along the way.

We will start from Mex (1118m), a beautiful tiny village perched on the heights of Saint-Maurice. From there, we will head to St. Bartholomew’s torrent, following the forest trail, crossing over a footbridge.

We will enjoy a breathtaking view between the Dent du Salentin and the Gagneries Virgin, over the open plain of the Salanfe, the dam and the lake, surrounded by the amazing Dents-du-Midi. Then we will easily descend to the Auberge de Salanfe (1950m) where we will spend our first night.

On the second day, we will hike along an alpine pasture trail that skirts the lake. We will reach the highest point on the circuit, from which the path leads down towards the Susanfe Refuge (2102m).

On the third day, we will passby the Pas d’Encel and reach the Cabane de Anthème. Finally, from Anthème we will get back to Mex. Please note this trail is accessible to families, however it requires you to be in good physical condition.

I had am amazing time during the 1-day off-piste training course at Hoch-Ybrig. Urs, our main mountain guide, was very helpful in answering my queries before the course, and Lupe from explore-share was helpful in selecting the course. We had 3 groups under Urs, Mario and Patrick, and I was in the group with Patrick. He gave us a lot of nice tips and individualized video analysis. He made a special effort to convey everything in English, since I don't know German. All the participants were very helpful and friendly too! The course is good value for money as skis are included for the weekend in the course price.
