From spectacular mountains to beautiful valleys, the Appalachian Trail has it all. It is no wonder that it attracts so many adventurers. Come join one of the AMGA-certified mountain guides on our team and discover this arduous but rewarding trail!
We invite you to discover just a small portion of what advanced hikers experience in the first month of their 2,168 mile/ 3,489 kilometers expedition to Katahdin, Maine. On this 4-day guided tour, we’ll explore the longest area of this famous path and cover over 5,000ft/ 1524 m.
This multi day backpacking trip begins in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. There, we’ll ascend the highest point in the state, the famous Clingmans Dome (6,643 ft/2,025 m). Along this journey, we’ll learn about this region’s diverse vegetation, go deep in the Native American culture and admire the views of the Appalachians Mountains.
This trip is suitable for advanced hikers. Keep in mind that every day we will walk between 6 to 10 miles. Consequently, you will require a good fitness level. Of course, we will be there to help and guide you.

After our trip orientation and gear check in Gatlinburg, we will head to the highest point of the GSMNP accessible by road and begin our trek. We will start the Appalachian Trail at its highest point – 6,643 feet – with incredible views of Clingmans Dome. We will head to the shelter camp for the evening, getting accustomed to our gear along the way.

Our second day is full of peaks, with awe-inspiring views from both ascents and descents. While making our way along the trail, we will learn about the region and its various uses to settlers and native communities.
Roughly eight to twelve miles of hiking.
This craggy section of the Appalachian Trail will reward us with phenomenal views of Fontana Lake. Arguably the most challenging part of the trek, it is an exhilarating experience that is sure to leave an impression on all hikers.
Roughly six to ten miles of hiking.
Descending into a lush valley to culminate our journey, you will discover the rich history of farming that defines the area. After a light lunch of sandwiches and fruit, we will shuttle back to Gatlinburg.

These trips are very strenuous and require FIT and SOUND body and mind as well as willing and adventurous attitude! These are the wilds of the Smoky Mountains! A relatively unpredictable and remote environment! You will be carrying about a 30 lb. pack over hilly, rocky, and sometimes wet and slick terrain. The weather can and will change quickly.
