For all climbing enthusiasts, this four-day basic course is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the activity outside in the winter and learn the thrill of ice climbing.
During this course we’ll be surrounded by the impressive Sexten Dolomites. In addition you will learn how to use specific technical gear as well as some safety procedures to do well on the frozen walls. I have no doubt that ice climbing will become your new favorite sport!
I have an amazing program planned for you. We’ll first meet up and check the equipment. Then, we’ll travel into Höhlensteintal, in South Tyrol to the dazzling Sunntaplotz waterfall. There, I’ll teach you the basics of ice climbing: how to use crampons and a pick axe. Get ready for your first climbing attempt!
The second day, we’ll go to the stunning climbing area of Prags Rosslahne for some climbing training. Here you’ll learn how to evaluate the quality of the ice. On our third day, we’ll go to the Sappada ice climbing spot. We’ll carry out practice rounds and learn different safety techniques, such as placing ice screws or making an Abalakov thread. We’ll finish our trip with more practice on the Matrei climbing area.
It is important that you have some basic knowledge on rock and ice climbing for this trip as well as a good fitness level.
So send your request and book the trip! It’ll be my pleasure to be your guide and instructor in the Sexten Dolomites.

Our trip with Herbert was fabulous! He was very accommodating, picking us up from our hotel and then dropping us off at the train station. The via ferrata itself was great, we had a blast. Herbert guided us well through the tougher sections. I felt safe and confident the entire time. We would absolutely book Herbert again, and I was very happy with explore-share. Thanks!

Our guide, Christian, was very experienced and knoweldgeable about the area. The climb is suitable for both beginners and the more confident. Would definately recommend.
