Come with me on this ascent and discover the Chopicalqui, one of the most beautiful peaks in the Cordillera Blanca.
The Chopicalqui Mountain is a 6,345 meters peak located inside the Llanganuco Valley in the Yungay Province of Peru. It is the third highest peak from the Huascaran snow-covered massif. From its summit, we can enjoy the view of the most astonishing panorama of the Cordillera Blanca.
First, we’ll meet in Huaraz and drive through Yungay and the Llanganuco Valley to the Ancosh Valley during around 3 hours. From this point, it will take us from 4 to 5 hours to get to the Moraine Camp (4,900 meters). On day 2, we’ll hike up during 4 or 5 hours to the High Camp (5,300 meters), our last stop before the summit. The following day, we’ll reach the highest point of the Chopicalqui and return to the Moraine Camp after a 14 to 15 hour hike. Finally, on day 4 we’ll go back to the Ancash Valley and drive to Huaraz.
If you want to take this ascent, consider that you should have a very good level of fitness and some previous mountaineering experience.
Have you decided yet? I can guarantee you will love this ascent to one of the most incredible peaks in Peru. Send your request! You won’t be disappointed!

Percy executed our plan well. He came up with several options after Huascaran was deemed unclimbable. I will be back to climb with Percy again. He runs a great trip.
