Join me on this exhilarating 3-day ski mountaineering adventure as we summit then race down the slopes of Gran Paradiso!
From our meeting point, in Argentière, we will drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel, enjoying the picturesque and snowcapped French Alps along the way.
Once we reach our starting point, we then climb for three hours until we have reached the Chabod hut. Depending on the time at which we arrive and your mountaineering experience, we will use the rest of the day to practice using our ice axe and crampons, while enjoying the spectacular scenery.
The next morning, we will wake up at first light and begin our ascent to the summit. This will include climbing the long glacier until the last col, which will bring us to approximately 4,000 meters above sea level.
The last few meters to reach the summit will take us along a scenic ridge. Before climbing along the ridge, we will tie and secure our skis to our packs.
After enjoying the breathtaking views from the summit, we will climb back down the ridge and glacier. From the bottom of the glacier, which is about where the mountain hut is, we will ski all the way back down into the valley.
So what are you waiting for? Book now for this epic ski mountaineering expedition to the summit of the more than aptly named Gran Paradiso!
If you like the look of this trip then we think you will also enjoy our 8-day ice climbing expedition in the Dolomites!
We will meet at the Hotel Les Randonneurs in Argentière and discuss the trip.
We will drive from the hotel to Valsavarenche then climb for three hours until we reach the Chabod hut.
After waking up early, we will climb the top. Afterwards, once we have returned to the hut, we will ski back down into the valley.
More info
No previous mountaineering experience is required for this trip, but is definitely an advantage. However, an advanced level of off-piste skiing is required (level 5/5+).

Mountain Guide
I am in the mountains all year-round, either guiding a trip or exploring on my own. Mountain guiding is not only my profession and passion but also my inner calling. I am a qualified IFMGA mountain and ski guide.
In 2012, I established my mountaineering school "Mountains" with the motto: Quality guiding on snow, rock and ice. You can count on a low client to guide ratio, reliable gear and high quality programs led by our talented team of guides. We are not adrenaline junkies - we put safety first and strive to meet and exceed all of our clients' needs.
We take great pride in having more than 30% returning clients and would be thrilled to welcome you to our "Mountains" family during your next rock, snow or ice adventure!

Thank you! It was really fantastic! I learned a lot and will keep at it - I have to say that ice, especially mixed and dry, is almost more fun than rock. Thank you for the super week and the great hotel! See you soon!
Tal and Dave,Thank you both on a terrific week in Chamonix! I had a great time and really feel now that I learnt a lot from you during this time! Climb save and see you next year :)
Hi Tal, I had a wonderful trip -- thank you so much for being such an excellent guide! Definitely want to do it again. Frankly, not sure why I bothered to fly home at all...... Really really want to go back :) Best, Amber
