The Cascade Mountains are a beautiful range that divide Washington State in half from north to south. Towards the Canadian border, you will find one of its most popular and sought-after mountains, Mt. Baker, standing tall among its other majestic peaks. It is heavily glaciated, thus making it an extraordinary landscape for thrilling climbing and mountaineering courses.
The icy ridges on the Coleman Glacier are the perfect place for our program. By camping three days on this incredible mountain we will get to exhaust its many routes and lines to cover a wide variety of essential skills. Over the course of our trip, you will gain practical experience in equipment maintenance, rope management, rappelling, and more. You can expect to gain proficiency in footwork, safety practices, and ice anchor production.
On this course you are introduced to ice climbing through the proper procedures of movement, technique, and technical application. Our program focuses on all these aspects, combining high-energy activities with detailed information. I will ensure you have an amazing time and that you will be ready to take on the upcoming challenges of your climbing and mountaineering career.
You will top-rope climb short pitches that feature all angles of ice, even vertical ice. Safety is always our top priority; therefore, you will also learn and practice many techniques that alleviate dangers and hazards while climbing. You can even add days to your program if you are interested in multi-pitch climbing and ice leading. Mount Baker’s North Ridge is an excellent ice climbing route if you want technical experience on an alpine ascent.
This area is breathtaking, and I am always pleased to share it with others. My program provides a safe and satisfying course that is an absolute blast every step of the way. Let me know what your ice climbing and mountaineering goals are, and I can set you up on an unforgettable program.
You should have some experience in top-rope climbing for this trip, which also necessitates having a reasonable level of fitness for a sustained course camping in the mountains.
Book this great ice climbing course IMMEDIATELY and spend three days honing your skills over the pristine ice of the Coleman Glacier on Mt. Baker!
We have tons of other opportunities as well, ranging from an astounding ascent of Glacier Peak to a two-day crevasse rescue course on Mt. Baker!
After our designated meeting, we will begin our journey with a three-mile hike to base camp. We will gain roughly 1,800 feet in elevation during this hike. Depending on the time and our circumstance, we will begin our instruction at camp or at the ice cliffs.
We will go over basic techniques and skills, including anchor construction, belaying, and rope management. We will then prepare a hot meal at camp and get ready for the following days.
This full day of instruction includes everything, from tying your climbing shoes and fitting crampons to rappelling, footwork, and body positioning. There will be a substantial amount of time dedicated to top-roping routes throughout the day.
We will have a half-day of practicing our newly-acquired skills, with an emphasis on efficient movement up and across the glacier. We will then break down our camp and descend from the glacier. A meal to reminisce over our phenomenal three-day course will culminate the trip as we leave Mt. Baker.

Sandeep and his wife, Jasmine, are lovely guides! We did a 1 day intro to rock climbing excursion with them and we had a great time! They communicated well and provided us with a fun and safe day of climbing. They chose routes based on our experience and taught us a lot. I highly recommend hiring Miyar Adventures. We have already shared their info with friends and family.
Five days of awesome is all I can say. Glen our instructor and guide was extremely knowledgeable. I had previous glacier mountaineering experience and his techniques were so much more efficient than what I had been taught. To top it off we had a great summit day.
Whole group summited! Huge thanks to the guides for helping us all get there! It's certainly not an easy climb, but the entire experience was fantastic. Especially loved the snow skills training on the second day. Lots of fun was had practicing the self arrest & team arrest. The team arrest training was a huge confidence builder to see that I wasn’t going to take the entire team down if I fell The lead guide (Glen) was fabulous. You can tell he really enjoys sharing his passion for the outdoors with the guests on his trip. Folks in the store are super helpful as well. Sandeep (owner) is great, and have talked with him in the store & via email several times to get advice. Great pre-trip guidance (including a meeting the night before the climb to make sure you have all the gear you need & nothing you don’t), and you can tell how much Sandeep cares about making sure every guest has a great experience. Lots of reasonably priced gear rental options available here as well if you aren’t sure if mountaineering is for you. Considering a Kili trip while I’m still in good hiking shape, and they’ll be the first place I look at if I decide to book.
I took the Mountaineering skills course (5 days) in Baker. I learned so much about Glacier travel, rope management, crevasse rescue, and much more! Glen, our guide was awesome and highly knowledgeable. We also got to summit Mt. Baker during the course which was the most magical part! I HIGHLY recommend them!
Myself and my daughter climbed Mt. Baker with Miyar Adventures via Easton Glacier route, Simon was our guide. The whole experience was epic in many ways. Simon's knowledge is excellent, I would trust him 100% in any situations that may come up on the mountain. We learned a lot and it was fun. The overall organization from Miyar was great (including informational emails from Jake and communication with Sandeep). Great company that I would choose again in a heartbeat.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
