Description

I will guide you on this exquisite 3-day hike to the local villages in the Sierra de Bahoruco National Park, from Paraiso, a fun and fascinating adventure where we will encounter lush green rainforests, rolling hills and valleys, tranquil clear waterways and a huge array of native Dominican flora and fauna, all located between the towering mountains and the Caribbean Sea.

Sierra de Bahoruco National Park is located in the Southwest of the Dominican Republic, and is renowned as being one of the most richly biodiverse places in the country, with many native species of flora and fauna calling the park home, such as more than 130 species of bird.

Our trip begins in the village of Paraiso, and from there we spend the day hiking up to the village of Cachote, passing coffee plantations and small communities along the way, whilst also being exposed to magnificent views back out over the valleys and the coast.

After a night in Cachote, day 2 is dedicated to hiking towards Polo, and this entails walking along several difficult trails that wind up and down hillsides whilst crossing rivers, trekking through forests and fields and learning more about the local inhabitants.

Our 3rd and final day is when we head to Paraiso, and over the course of this day there will ample opportunity to refresh and cool off in the natural pools that populate the area, as you will need it after trekking through many more valleys and agricultural fields.

Once we reach Paraiso our adventure ends, hopefully satisfied at having witnessed some of the best scenery in the country, and having enjoyed ourselves doing it.
