Come taste the history of a world-renowned wine region on this unique three-day tour in Catalonia! Hike through wonderful wineries as charming as the expansive views and learn about a side of Catalonia you never knew before!
This excursion is designed for the adventurer with an appreciation for wine. Located a couple hours out of Barcelona, the Montsant Natural Park is home to the production of famous regional red wine. Get your cameras AND your taste buds ready for this adventure!
The region started gaining attention in the early 1990s, after a Catalan wine-maker brought his product to Paris and it was well-received by the best known sommelier at the time. After just a few tastes, he ordered three boxes on the spot, and the rest is history.
The prestige of this Catalan wine region continues today, and once you see the landscape responsible for its growth, you will understand – and you won´t want to leave. Never-ending views that encompass the entire Priorat region, the fauna of Montsant, and the unique countryside will make this an adventure you won´t forget.
Book this now and I will show you a three-day hike through the famed lands of Catalonia and the beauty that accompanies it!
I can also take you on a great four-day hike in the Cadi Moixero Natural Park in the Pyrenees! Or I can take you on a guided tour of Andorra for a long weekend!
We will depart Barcelona at 8:45am and travel about two hours to Falset. From there, we will have a nice 8.6 km walk through poplars, oaks, and hazelnut groves to a private tour of a Gratallops winery. We will have a packed lunch on the way.
After the tour and tasting, we will continue along the path for an additional 7 km of walking to reach our first accommodations.
After our breakfast we will take on an ambitious hike with a 1,100m rise in elevation over 14km. This includes some scrambles over Grau de la Vilella Alta and Graus de l´Enderrocada, as well as a beautiful countryside of olive groves and time-worn Stone walls.
We will reach the hotel after several hours out on our trek, and prepare for the amazing hike the next day!
A hilly journey of 16km awaits us today, and we will climb 840m in altitude. We will reach the highest point of the mountain range and take in unbelievable views of the Catalan wine country.
There is an optional wine tour and tasting at Celler Cooperatiu de Cornudella del Montsant, a well-known winery with architectural significance – it was built by Cesar Martinell, a protege of Gaudi.
We will bus to Falset by 6:30pm, and take the train back to Barcelona at 7:33pm – a two-hour trip.

We had the most wonderful two days of hiking in Andorra with our guide Daniel. I cannot recommend him enough plus the areas he took us to. Our favourite was the Sortney National Park.

Our hike was wonderful and surpassed our expectations. Our guide, Dani, was excellent, organized each day's hike perfectly with respect to our abilities and preferences and the weather. He gave interesting explanations about flora & fauna, geology, geography and local lore along the way. The landscape was spectacular. The hotel was comfortable, with good meals and they even provided lunch packs for our daily hikes. Everything was perfect!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
