Join me for this heart-pumping 3-day ascent of Cerro Tronador, one of northern Patagonia’s most iconic peaks!
After meeting in Bariloche, our adventure begins right away as we transfer to Pampa Linda and then make our way to Cerro Tronador base camp. We will then ascend via a mountain path until we arrive at the Meiling shelter.
Depending on your energy levels and the time, I will recommended that we go over and practice some technical skills that will be very helpful for the main ascent tomorrow.
After waking up early in the morning – before the first light of dawn – we will begin our ascent, which depending on the weather and your physical condition will take about seven to nine hours. Most of the way will involve climbing over a glacier, enjoying its stunning natural beauty while remaining mindful of the crevices.
Toward the end comes the technically most challenging part. We will make a steep snow and ice climb, then a three to four meter rock climb before reaching the summit. However, the views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers are breathtaking.
After spending some time at the top, we will then make the roughly three hour descent and get some well deserved rest. The next day will be a fairly easy day as we pack up our belongings from the mountain hut and head back down to Pampa Linda.
Once there, we transfer back to Bariloche and bid one another farewell.
So what are you waiting for? Book now for this thrilling 3-day mountaineering adventure as we ascend Cerro Tronador near Bariloche!
