Come along for a three-day excursion into the beautiful Eagles Nest Wilderness near Vail in Colorado! This guided hiking and backpacking tour gives you a front row seat to the incredible nature that defines the Rocky Mountains, from the high altitude peaks to the serene countryside below.
The Eagles Nest Wilderness surrounds the recreational hub of Vail, providing remote natural aesthetics in an exciting landscape. The wilderness is comprised of 133,471 acres of land, established in 1976 and providing outdoor getaways for trekkers and travelers ever since. A significant portion of the Gore Mountains are found within Eagles Nest, a particularly rugged and wild range with a high point of 4,135 meters (Mt. Powell).
Among the jagged peaks are roughly 180 miles of hiking trails snaking through the razor-edge ridges and flowery meadows. The heavily forested area is filled with pure alpine lakes and meandering streams, setting the stage for the hike of a lifetime. The Eagles Nest Wilderness is accessible from Vail, as well as Frisco and Silverthorne.
This is where you come in! Your three-day program gives you the chance to dig in to this amazing scenery and take on the exhilarating trails that cut into and around the valleys, with enough variety to keep you captivated at every turn in the road. The elevation, location, and atmosphere provide a peaceful journey into nature, a rare experience that can only be found in Eagles Nest.
We will set up a basecamp or camp at various locations within the wilderness – the choice is yours. The itinerary for your hike will be crafted around your needs and abilities. We can even extend or shorten the program if you have certain schedule requests or restrictions. With glacier-carved cirques, high mountain lakes, and a unique world of flora and fauna to discover, we can set up a lifetime of wonder for you to see.
Some common objectives include the Gore Range Trail, a multi-day hike from Gore Creek and Red Buffalo Pass south to Eccles Pass, and Piney Lake. The former boasts incredible views of the Ten Mile Range and passes stunning alpine lakes, while the latter is an easier hike very close to Vail whose main attraction is a breathtaking waterfall. Of course, there are tons of options, so we can tailor a trip just for you. I will ensure we have a safe, satisfying, and all-around fun time in Eagles Nest Wilderness.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
