The beautiful Gauri Shankar Massif is located on the western edge of the Rolwaling Himal. The massif with two summits combines the names of Goddess Gauri and her consort Shankar, manifestations of Durga and Shiva, one summit each. As such**, it is a sacred mountain in the region and a beautiful place to explore. On this 2 week Gauri Shankar Massif trek in Nepal, I will show you some of its most stunning spots!**
We will begin our journey in Kathmandu. After acquainting ourselves with this beautiful city we will take a private tour bus to Shivalaya. This will be the starting point of our trek. Then, on the following days we will ascend on a unique route where we will see beautiful wildlife, Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries and yak cheese factories! On day 8 we will reach the highest point of our trip which is Thare Kharka at an altitude of 4140m. Finally, we will begin our descent via a longer route that will take us back to Shivalaya and then to Kathmandu.
On the ascent to Thare Kharka we will walk between 4-5 hours per day. Then on the descent we will walk between 6-7 hours per day. Consequently, a good fitness level is required. Also, keep in mind that we will be reaching high altitudes so we will need to take the necessary care to acclimatise properly. Of course, I will be there every step of the way to ensure that you feel comfortable and we also offer medical care on the way, should you need it. This will guarantee that your trek in the Himalayas is both safe and enjoyable!
Are you ready for a two week trekking excursion to one of the world’s most beautiful and spiritual destinations? Then book your place now and join me on this unique Gauri Shankar exploration! I will be happy to show you the way!
We also offer a longer trek from Solukhumbu to Khumbu in the Nepal region. You can check it out here!
We will meet in Kathmandu and explore this beautiful city. Then we will take a private bus to Shivalaya which is the starting point of our trek (1790m).
For the next few days, we will head in the direction of Thare Kharka. Every day we will walk approximately 3-4 hours and sleep in tents.
On day 8 we will ascend to the highest point of our trek at the Gyajo La Pass (4880m). Then we will descend to the Ngeju Kharka (3690m)
We will begin our descent to Shivalaya taking a longer route. Every day we will trek between 6 to 7 hours. Once we reach Shivalaya we will again take a private bus to Kathmandu.
We will have time to explore the stunning city of Kathmandu with its many temples and sights.

IFMGA/UIAGM mountain guide
I come from Marseille and I found my passion for mountaineering very early, climbing Les Calanques, some mountains in the Verdon region and in the Alps. I got my IFMGA (mountain guide) certificate in 1983 and my ski instructor license in 1985.
I brought my clients on many summits of the Alps and went abroad to discover the world. I went skiing, climbing, mountaineering… in Morocco, Norway, Algeria (Hoggar), Yosemite (El Capitan) and Nepal. I discovered this passion for travelling and started to organize my first trips with my clients. In the late 80’, I went to the Annapurna Sanctuary and I did several ascents in Peru (Pisco, Yanapatcha and Huascaran). In the 90’, I did several trips in Nepal (Helambu, Langtang…).
I then kept on and further explored the world with my clients: Rolwaling traverse (Perchamo, Mera Peak Mingbo La), the summits of Yala Peak and the Yana Kanga, Patagonia (in Argentina), Manaslu tour in Nepal, Meso Kanto La, Mustang, Atacama desert in chili and many others.
I like bringing my clients mountaineering in summer and ski touring / heliskiing in winter.
Get in touch with me and let's discuss about your next guiding tour !

Many thanks for 3 great days of snow powder and amazing views in the 3 vallees. Knowledgeable, cautious and takes peoples tempo and abilities into account, adapting to needs.
Great moments of fun and found some lush powder in difficult conditions.
